Honestly, In My Opinion, 480p is still completely acceptable for anime and cartoons. Most of that definition is used on the exact same colour blocks so HD doesn’t make s humongous difference. Still nice to have of course, but I don’t hesitate to go 480p if internet is choppy

4·6 hours agoI was so gutted when TB got diagnosed. I’m still subscribed in memorium; never found any other reviewer nearly as thorough. Every time I play a new game, I check the options menu immediately. I think of him and wonder what he would say about this game.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Women 30+, how do you deal with all these symptoms? I've been dealing with all of this ever since turning 30 (am 32)English
1·6 hours agoI’ll just hop in and mention that I have chronic illness that never shows up on any blood test. You cannot test for the conditions I have. It was an extremely difficult process to get any help or taken seriously. Doctors would do the standard tests and be like, well you look ok. But I was extremely not ok. Nobody would help me or care though.
I went through the same phase mentally as you. “Well if everyone is saying I’m fine then I must be fine and just lazy or a hypochondriac.” Dragging myself to work. Passing out while standing. Unable to function. Actively deteriorating month to month. Until one day I crossed a threshold and had a serious life changing medical event, that I still haven’t recovered from. My body forced me to listen, and the severity of my symptoms couldn’t be brushed off anymore.
If nothing else, pay attention to whether your condition is getting worse, or staying the same. If you’re getting worse, please consider seeing a specialist.
25 years is how long it took me to get a diagnosis.

31·7 hours agoI dunno, for Australia at least it seems pretty dire and continuing to worsen
The total fertility rate required for replacement is considered to be around 2.1 babies per woman to replace herself and her partner in the absence of overseas migration.
Australia’s total fertility rate:
- was 1.481 babies per woman in 2024, lower than 2023 (1.499) and the rate 10 years ago (1.795 in 2014)
- has been below replacement since 1976.

5·11 hours agoI’ve run my own anecdotal and admittedly small blind trials on friends and family. Most people unfortunately preferred the A.I. slop to real human content. My theory is because it tends to be brought and shiny. The only actual study I could find online, told participants which is which, kind of defeating the purpose in my opinion.
Honestly that’s a good slogan. I’d vote for them
Only if you get the fake stuff where it’s just normal yoghurt that they added extra Greek to
If the judge has a history with, even hugging, the accused; I’d be concerned that they might be more lenient with their sentencing than they would a stranger. Especially if they’re back for the third time
Similar story actually. I tried to make an anime colouring book for a young family member with A.I.
It often gave me… disturbing content. I was extremely shocked. I didn’t ask for that, it just did it on its own. I accidentally downloaded one of the models which is “nsfw” by mistake; in my defence, it was a very confusing process at the time. Apparently you have to specifically tell it not to make pornography by default.
It also didn’t really know what to do with the lines. It often gave me effectively a mutilated “veiny” version of the base image with lines randomly and incohesively all over the place. Just a mess that’s impossible to colour in without enough white space.
I whipped up something nice in Photoshop over a few hours instead.
That’s always been my philosophy… I bought it, I’m not buying it again
Isn’t this a huge conflict of interest?

0·18 hours agoThe free market would be a kid opening a better burger van across the road from Maccas and everyone jumping ship. The reality is you need zoning approval from the local governance, licensing fees, parking fees, etc, before you even have a van or any cooking gear yet. Then everyone goes to Maccas anyway because it’s familiar even if it’s bad.
I have unconfirmed theories.
- My C and V key are literally the most worn keys on my keyboard. The letters are completely worn off, they’re by far my most used keys. That amount of use probably makes the contacts degrade and less reliable.
- Windows 10 (I think?) introduced a “fancy clipboard” with history and multi paste and generally made it an “app”. In my experience the fancier it is the more failure points, since it’s no longer just a simple OS memory buffer, it has its own application logic.
- Since it’s a global hotkey, the OS has to:
- Handle the interrupt
- Query the currently active window / application for a “copy” output of the currently highlighted context
- Wait for a response
- Place that response into a buffer of some sort
- In a highly volatile asynchronous UI where the user can alt tab at any time, I imagine often what happens is that you just didn’t wait long enough for the data to actually copy. Pressing CTRL+C would be equivalent in reliability as waiting 2 seconds, but it’s more fun to press the button a bunch
Probably my most hated feature that I couldn’t turn off. Every time I expected middle click to start scrolling in VSCode or a word document or any app really, it would paste my clipboard instead, and I would die a little inside

I already kind of assumed cat kibble was made with plants or something lol. Meat is expensive.
As long as they’re healthy and nutrition is met, who cares? I’m sure that they actually tested this food before putting it on the market. Feels like most of the “discussion” was just people raging against veganism and vegetarianism again.
This is a real thing though; it’s called keeping an open mind and trying to reduce bias. Most people don’t get it because they’re basically running an operating system of biases and stereotypes and groupthink.
The hard part is resisting people putting you into boxes. Half my comments or posts on Lemmy, people try to force me into an extremist “take” or “position” so they can argue against me. But very often, there is no hard set belief here, I’m just stating my opinion. If I see information that convinces me otherwise, I’ll change it; but no amount of emotional arguments, name calling, or fallacies mean anything to me.

I feel like his videos are kind of repeating / smaller now? Like really the big explanations of Mario Maker are kind of… done?
For example, I originally subscribed after seeing his rankings of all enemies from best to worst using some strange personal measurement which was entertaining. But his latest 3 videos, at time of this comment, are just revisiting older videos. I like seeing new stuff. not alterations of old stuff.
