Brett Lauderdale posted a thread talking about the TrillerTV situation.

Short version: Triller (the parent company of TrillerTV) has basically abandoned them, sucked up all their revenue, and left them unable to pay AEW and others. So they’re suing to get the courts to force Triller to sell the company to someone else, so they can continue operations. That lawsuit is separate from AEW’s suit against TrillerTV and Triller to recover what they are owed, but it stems from the same root cause.

Brett seems cautiously optimistic about this move. I’m less so; IANAL, but this seems like a Hail Mary play to me.

Probably the best case scenario is if somebody buys it away from Triller and keeps their fingers out of the honey pot going forward, but I don’t know who that buyer would be.

Given all the money they owe AEW, maybe them, actually? It’d be a good backup plan if the Paramount merger kills their relationship with WBD.

Aw, dang. Still looking forward to next year, though.

AEW usually doesn’t do that kind of “work the dirtsheets” crap, and I think that’s to their benefit. I hope they aren’t starting now.

I think we’re reading that differently. We know that Austin Creed, Kofi Kingston, Jeff Cobb, and Tanga Loa got these offers (and declined them). I was assuming this “less than 6” included those names, and you seem to be assuming it’s “less than 6” in addition to them.

The idea that New Day were on that list at all, regardless of its size, is fucking baffling.

And honestly, if this was just a small number of talent that got railroaded like this, it’s even more so. Did they really save that much money with the contract restructuring? Especially compared to all the goodwill they lost in that locker room?

And if it’s only 6 names… Well, we know New Day, Jeff Cobb, and Tanga Loa, and we know that New Day will be eagerly welcomed to AEW and that AEW had a positive relationship with Cobb in the past and would likely be happy to bring him in as a full-timer. So where is this idea that it’s mostly people who wouldn’t fit in well in AEW coming from?

Live your life in such a way that your former employer doesn’t go to the press specifically to deny they’re talking about giving you your job back.

I know, right? WWE’s contracts have always been one-sided in this way, but for them to so blatantly make this move to squeeze talent is a new low even for them.

The sad thing is, he’s probably the guy who needs to the least. He’s already proven he can make it on his own and doesn’t need WWE (or AEW, for that matter). He can and should bet on himself; he’s proven it’s a safe bet. But he’s such a mark for WWE that he won’t unless and until he’s forced.

Do not ever compromise or accept less than your due when it comes to your worth.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but that certainly sounds like it’s confirming the story that TKO tried to lowball them.

New Day will be in AEW before the year is out. They will have a new theme by Mega Ran. And it will be a finalist for our song selection next year.

I mean, NASCAR’s excessive branding has been a punchline at least as long as I’ve been alive, and I’m middle aged.

Also, I think people are frustrated at the increasing encroachment of advertising into our lives in general. People are sick of seeing ads where there were none before, and the past couple of years of WWE have seen them move extremely quickly to do exactly that.

Also, does anyone have tips on how to deal with thigh chafing?
