Sigh, I was trying to meet you in the middle. I’m in no mood to fight with you.

True, but it’s a lot easier for me to find 90 minutes than 180 minutes on a weekday night.

Thank you for the educational response.

A well constructed film does not feel rushed in a shorter run time.
I like long films, like really long ones. Ones where the length is part of the experience. For example, I loved Apocalypse Now Redux.
What I don’t like is films that are substantially longer than they need to be. I don’t want them pared down, I want them built around the format their story suits rather than padded out. I like breathing room (mostly!) but it’s a fine line to walk.
A good film opening gets on with things quickly, getting the viewer up to speed, but too often I find myself quoting Springfieldians from Marge vs. The Monorail - “GET TO THE MONEY!”

Does this mean we can see the end of the overly long film trend?
I miss films being ~80 - 90 minutes. I’ve had a long day, I don’t want to commit to three hours unless it’s something really special.

Yeah, our PM is great. Our previous one not so much.
He trusts us but also handles absolutely loads of stuff that we don’t want to deal with.
For me the divide is more related to when they went public. Around third edition. Just my opinion though!
That said I painted a set of these, wait, no, two sets, and for some reason hated them. I found them repetitive and tedious, much to my own annoyance!

GitHub was founded in 2008 so nearly half its life it has been owned my MS. Yeah, “recent” doesn’t feel like a good fit here.

I thought they bought GitHub ages ago?

My impression is that none of these big companies that talk about getting into game dev ever do anything. I’ve no idea if it’s accurate but it seems like they talk about it, burn a load of cash, lay everyone off, and release nothing memorable.

It does amuse me that there was such a push for neoliberal capitalism and then it’s shocked Pikachu face all 'round when loads of businesses models don’t fit the infinite growth approach.
Whilst the AoBR deffkoptas are nearly twenty, it pains me to call them Oldhammer…

Eww

Could we have the same for YouTube videos? I don’t want your stupid summaries.

Nice! I’ll update my container and give it a go.

It’s not tastier.

It was as useful and informative the second time as the first.
Anyway, I’m not enjoying this exchange whatsoever and I doubt you are either. I did not take kindly to my comment being framed so negatively, particularly because it brings out the worst in me. I tried to drop some comments in to lighten things up but you didn’t engage with them so here we are.
My initial comment was supposed to be taken as a prompt for people to share anecdotes related to the piece (“I knew this but only really understood when I found out first hand under these circumstances…”, that sort of thing).
So we can keep lazily exchanging jabs or perhaps instead we can decide that it was a good fight and move forward. Fights in the comments might be favoured by platforms with algorithmically-driven setups but that ain’t here!
Well in that case let’s revise my comment to “I was trying to meet the person that I was replying to in the middle”.
Trying to gotcha me is just going to end up with me being an aggressive arsehole. That’s no fun for anyone and isn’t going to result in you catching me out, so it’ll be frustrating for you and tiresome for me. I’m going to bed.
