It might come as a surprise to learn that the brain responds to training in much the same way as our muscles, even though most of us never think about it that way. Clear thinking, focus, creativity and good judgment are built through challenge, when the brain is asked to stretch beyond routine rather than run on autopilot. That slight mental discomfort is often the sign that the brain is actually being trained, a lot like that good workout burn in your muscles.

    I didn’t.

I have nothing more to add if someone is inferring what I want instead of reading what I say.

It was as useful and informative the second time as the first.

Anyway, I’m not enjoying this exchange whatsoever and I doubt you are either. I did not take kindly to my comment being framed so negatively, particularly because it brings out the worst in me. I tried to drop some comments in to lighten things up but you didn’t engage with them so here we are.

My initial comment was supposed to be taken as a prompt for people to share anecdotes related to the piece (“I knew this but only really understood when I found out first hand under these circumstances…”, that sort of thing).

So we can keep lazily exchanging jabs or perhaps instead we can decide that it was a good fight and move forward. Fights in the comments might be favoured by platforms with algorithmically-driven setups but that ain’t here!

            Some people like reading them.

I, too, tried to keep it casual and informative. Maybe we’re both fine people who just happened to clash the right way on the wrong day.

Hope you have a good rest of your week.
