My family has given up funerals. An inexpensive cremation and urn is all that’s expected, but even that will run up to a few hundred bucks.
And who is responsible for it? My wife is carrying her mother’s urn around, and someday I’ll be responsible for my parents’. Then we’ll go, and that’s FIVE sets of remains being passed down to my son! What’s he supposed to do with all these old dead people?
Scatter the ashes some place real nice.
Plan to scatter from the get go and save a bunch of money not buying an urn. Cardboard box and a plastic bag from the crematorium.
Where I live pretty much everyone will have insurance that covers funeral costs. It costs about 5 euros per month. If they don’t have insurance the money they left in their bank account or their property will cover it. As with pretty much everything else, this sounds like a problem specifically created by the industry to rip people off.
Now? It’s been too much for too long…
