This cannot possibly hold up in court. You cant just advertise a product and then be like “*but actually we might be lying about some or all of these things”??? What the fuck are you selling then
You cunts gotta get used to name and shaming instead of just posting and forgetting

Was just arguing about the usefulness of AI as a tool with someone on here, and he said that AI consistently making mistakes is a great way to improve critical thinking skills, because it challenges you to figure it out on your own after AI fails.
So what I’m saying is, that was an absolute rubbish take, and shit like this is going to be the downfall of the internet. The internet was such a wonderful, useful tool, and now look at how they massacred my boy 😞
It went to shit when “the internet” became 4-6 biggest web services, this is just the final nail in coffin.
In case anyone was wondering, it’s Best Buy
of course it is.
Imagine getting a sale from a storefront you didn’t consent to being listed on, with an inaccurate description of your product.
Didn’t Uber eats do this same thing with small restaurants?
Do not buy that laptop. If they cut corners on the fucking description, who knows what else they’ll cut corners on.
I literally cannot think of the last time I saw a Samsung (or Sony for that matter) laptop in the wild.
How’d you know it was Samsung? Honestly I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a Samsung laptop even through a screen
I think they’re assuming it’s a Samsung computer because it mentions phone link can connect to a Galaxy smartphone. Seeing as that’s the name of the program provided by Microsoft (which will connect to any smartphone) I’m assuming whatever ad copy this shitty llm ate to regurgitate this slop used a Galaxy phone as an example
It specifically calls out Galaxy smartphones.
Likely is, but not necessarily. Lot of scam listings just toss in “works with popular brand of thing” for ad space filler.
They would have added others too then.
Yeah, but it also admits that it is AI generated. And Phone Link is the name used by a few different services, the most common made by Microsoft directly, so specifying Galaxy phones over Android on general is suspect.
That being said, AI doesn’t usually pull out quite such specific and relevant terminology unless prompted to include it.
For anyone who wants something else, KDE Connect works outside of KDE, and even works on Windows. You don’t need to use Microsoft’s version.
And it is easier to setup. For phone link you have to scan QR code, wait for it to pair etc… And with KDE connect you click pair on one device and on second you accept. Easier and safer
That’s definitely not Samsung’s website though. Wonder how they’d feel about this
I had one once, it did this magic trick where it would get too hot and shutdown even in the winter.
My sister had a samsung laptop. Was good, lived long enough. Idk why she doesn’t have it anymore (probably died).
May she rest in peace (probably)
She’s doing well. Has some “business” amd laptop. I turned off core boost and stuff so it’s cool and will last a long time.
I got one a year ago for 50% off. 16GB ram and rtx 4050. It’s a great little Linux machine.
The old Vaio 's that sony made were pretty solid
I pine for the days of the classy-looking lavender VAIO notebooks.
I take my Vaio on the go from time to time but similarly don’t often see much else but Macbooks. People with tablets and keyboards are becoming a more common sight though.
I’ve understood things about Macbooks back in the early 2010s when I saw a manager at my job holding his Air, open, by the corner while gesticulating. A contemporary Vaio would’ve snapped in half from such treatment.
Anecdotally, I just picked mine up in a similar fashion and despite being uncomfortable from the imbalance, it seems to hold up fine. Might depend on the gesticulation factor - I gave it a ‘tree in the breeze’ sort of motion but not a ‘wacky inflatable tube man’ kind haha.
Idk how Vaio are built these days, but Macbooks have been famously made from an aluminium slab by cutting out the inside space, for a long time now. This ensures solid structural integrity. Plus the display hinge is very robust too, doesn’t swing easily.
I’ve had a Vaio back in the late 00s, it was slapped together from separate plastic parts and creaked with any movement.
Oh I couldn’t speak on their modern build quality as mine is from 2014, back when Sony still owned Vaio. I wouldn’t choose it over a Macbook to use as a racquet, but that wasn’t the intended use case then nor would it be now.
I did use an Acer laptop for a bit once and that thing must have been damaged or something because the hinge was so loose it would slowly open up when I was typing. Eventually I remember propping it against something to keep from constantly adjusting it. Fortunately my Vaio doesn’t suffer such an issue.
i am playing bitcraft on my galaxy book rn
To be fair it could just be whatever RETAILER is using the slop description, but not the manufacturer.
But yeah, don’t buy from them.
That does seem to be the case - it’s specifically Best Buy and they seem to have fed the spec sheet into an LLM to generate a description.
If you can’t give me exact, accurate details about your own fucking product, then I will not be buying your product. If it even actually exists, which I would now be doubtful of.
we strive to deliver accurate information
🤔 what do they think “strive” means?
Strive (v): To try, a little bit, sometimes, if we feel like it
Truth in advertising was killed off in the 80’s… They can basically say whatever they want now and little ever gets done.
THE NEW BEST PRODUCT, BEST VALUE, RECOMMENDED BY 10 BILLION BLUE WHALES, STREAK FREE, LASTS up to 10 MONTHS if never touched

LLMs are a disease.
I’ve got a bridge to sell. It’s about yay high and goes all the way across. It is colored #9aae07.
Sorry, that color is copyrighted by Pantone, please cease and desist.

That one’s from the Adobe Color Palette.
Yep. Now barf with me, my friend 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮❤️
it looks gray with my blue light filter put the name is funny
I recently ran into this issue with a coffee pot. I was specifically hunting for a coffee pot with an adjustable temperature warmer. Ordered one that specifically stated that in the description, only to receive a coffee pot that did not have that feature. Checked the model number on the box versus the listing, and it’s the same. Then I saw the fine print: we are not responsible for inaccurate product information.
They are absolutely responsible for that, fuck em
Too fucking right, send the fucker back
we are not responsible for inaccurate product information.
I have half a packet of mints in my car. Going to put them up on eBay and sell them as immortality drugs. Well see how that works out.
What country? In many, this is straight up false advertising and you’re entitled to a refund.
At their expense for shipping, no less. Nothing that a charge back won’t fix - with all the evidence ready to go) https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-service-you-bought/repair-replace-refund-cancel
US. Thanks for the helpful info!
dang I learn something new
I do not get it, how much effort would a product description possibly be to instead use ai? This is not a one off, even before these llm ai systems a lot of instruction manuals in cheap crap you buy were written by machines, very badly.
They are presumably paying people to be executives and board members and managers, but they can’t be bothered to pay someone a few hours to write a product description accurately? We have all the wrong people in charge in this country. Because they can not even write an accurate product description they chose to.
how much effort would a product description possibly be to instead use ai
Probably 15-30 minutes vs a couple seconds. (I know, it would bankrupt anyone)
Weird thing is that every produce has a spec sheet you could literally save money by having an AI crank out text and spent 5c per item to make sure it actually matches the spec sheet.
Send us $1300 and we will send you… something?
Send a labubu
Or not. They could just as well not send anything at all and still meet the standards of that label.
1.3k dollar
Here’s my description: “This laptop costs at least $1,300 and is pretty expensive”
