What is the point of this little breast pocket near my left shoulder?
I have like 10 t-shirts with a tiny breast pocket right over my left nipple, and what am I supposed to put in there? I’ve never put fucking anything in this pocket, but it’s always there with a tiny tag from whatever manufacturer made the shirt.

pens, pencils, slide rules, notebooks. I think it’s a holdover from when we used to have analog math. You can store stuff in it and access it while you’re sitting at a desk or whatever without standing up. This is all conjecture I don’t actually know.
Yeah you’d have a pocket protector, a plastic or leather pouch holding your pen/s so they wouldn’t leak on your shirt or your compass would catch. Keeps them from falling out if you bend over. Usually have a compass, pen, pencil, ruler etc depending on your job.
My parents/older family members/friends and teachers had them before everything was computers and phones.
I just checked mine, it’s full of rubber bands.
Sunglasses or qtips, spare joints or cigarettes (or lighters or papers), a lil cash for cover. Keys even. A receipt
I actually hate t shirts without one, it’s incredibly handy. Pocket t shirts ftw
I work in the woods. I keep pens, a compass, a roll of flagging, and ear plugs in those pockets.
I put my nicotine gum in shirt pockets.
I put my wallet there sometimes.
I think it’s a hangover from the pocket watch days.

I think I saw a tailor’s pamphlet showing all the possible places he could sew in pockets to a jacket and it was like 50 different options, just basically “Where would you like your pocket I can make you a pocket I can make you fifty goddamn pockets”.

Yeah I thrift shop a lot and oftentimes the old clothes I find last much longer than anything I’ve bought new.
It is also the factual truth. They use less cloth to make shit now. They spin the threads thinner and thinner. That workwear guy has a series of articles about it.

I am a mailman. I keep so much shit in that pocket. Pens, markers, little thumb thimble that helps grip letters, employee id, sunglasses, cards to leave if someone isn’t home, airpod case… it’s actually a surprisingly spacious pocket lol.
Also I don’t smoke but for 90% of people who smoke who wear workwear that is the official pack of smokes pocket. In your pants pockets they get smooshed.
