  • Unless those on the attacking side (MAGA) decide they don’t want to murder more of us, I’m not sure we can. The first civil war was incredibly bloody and tensions between the sides never settled down fully. We are in this situation partly because there is no way to have a compromise with people that believe some of our society’s members aren’t human. The white supremacist view of slave owners and supporters of slavery never went away, it needs to be cut out from the root.

  • If I was the one murdered and could be aware of this, I would be massively thankful that at least this moment was caught so clearly, that I didn’t die alone, that maybe it won’t be for nothing and people will see this and have a fire ignited within them to continue the fight.

So many people have been killed just like this before that we never saw and will never know about. The murderer has worked for Border Patrol for 8 years. I would be completely unsurprised to learn he had already murdered others.

  • It’s not the same as being in the trenches under fire, but the class war is waged with violence and has casualties and deaths, front lines and such. Seeing it as a war isn’t a choice to live in a military state, you feel it when you are working class trying to live and the rich are doing their best to let you die. The class war does steal your humanity and control you, taking a militant stance against it is meeting the opposition as they are. They use militarized police and all the means of psychological war to fight against the poor.

I’m not saying it’s necessary to subsume your individuality to the will of your leaders and forget autonomy or follow anything with blind obedience, just that what some call authoritarian I have come to see as potentially necessary steps to take when fighting such a ruthless enemy.

  • I used to be afraid of the “authoritarianism”, but all socialists need to realize the class war is a real war being waged, a war between the people and the most advanced and all-encompassing enemy in history. We must have a serious and disciplined response and it requires organization like that of an army. Is it authoritarian to follow the commands of your captain when you are in battle? Maybe it is, but without this coordination and discipline we will be destroyed.

  • The equipment made them better equipped, not the ideology, though it does help because of it’s accurate materialist understanding of history. The USSR had a massive industry that produced millions of bullets, artillery shells, and hundreds of tanks to fight the nazis. We don’t have a nation like that now to fight the nazis, the nazis today are the dominant superpower and it will be a tough fight. I agree though idk what the point of that comment was.

  • Even during the founding of the US there were abolitionists, anti-racists and what we would call today communist and anarchists. US history has been driven by the white supremacist’s agenda, but there has always been a strong push against it. The state has always been a minority as far as the number of people, and I think many ‘Americans’ do see the US as a bastion of freedom for refugees and people of all races. That has been the promoted image of the US, obviously we know the state doesn’t adhere to that idealized version but many people here do seem to see that image as the ‘true America’.

It is necessary to oppose that racist state, but the US government is not really representative of much of the nation of ‘America’.
