Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Watching TV shows or movies that display Russia as a military superpower is almost surreal nowadays.English
1·3 years agoNah, if that’s the goal they’ll just use Neutrino Bombs (look them up, they’re crazy what they’re designed to do)

4·3 years agoStill salty that we lost out on the conclusion of the DeusEx trilogy because Eidos Montreal ended up doing the Avengers game that no one even remembers or talks about now.

3·3 years agoI thought the same about BotW. Between the lack of story by default (you have to search it out through specific pictures that you damn well be able to know the landscape and match it up) and the sparse music and themes of previous Zelda games. It felt like the SMB2 of Zelda games, you could have titled it something else with a different protagonist and it would have been its own game.

9·3 years agoI know everyone likes to tout VR, but I really think that AR will be the sweet spot most people ultimately adopt. Add it into nice looking glasses (sorry Google Glass, not it) and have some sort of easier to use interface that can interact with your surroundings and that will take off.
Imagine being in a business meeting with a little pop up over each person’s head with their name, title and other interesting information you need to know. Or be at a baseball game and have similar stats pop up above each player’s head. Turn by turn directions overlaid directly on the street. There are endless possibilities (as long as the ads don’t get in the way, but even for them, imagine green screen billboards that can display unique ads too).

You do realize that’s almost 20 years ago. That’s like saying “well you realize in 1985…” Back in 2005.
(The 2000s have been a blur for me time wise too)

391·3 years agoI often times wonder if an extraterrestrial threat would be a unifying factor or if people would still be selfish unless it affected them. The pandemic was the closest we’ve seen to a world level threat recently and it just increased selfishness IMO (at least in the US)

17·3 years agoSo I’m gonna add something here… It annoys me that managers can’t form or be part of a union. Far too often low and mid level managers and supervisors get shit on just as much and have to parrot the company line coming from the higher ups that are trying to push it. I wish they could be better empowered too.
Showerthoughts in a nutshell. Even when I went through and verified every rule was correct it was still removed. Modmail just responded “well you broke one of the rules” and would never explain which one or how.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If you could plant a single thought in the minds of everyone on Earth simultaneously, what thought would you choose to share?English
4·3 years agoThank you… I hate all the people who are “we’ll permanently destroy the earth and it’ll never recover!” crowd. Maybe for us it’ll be too inhospitable and we won’t survive, but nature is surprisingly resilient. From bacteria that can eat oil and plastic, to entire generations of flora and fauna living in irradiated landscapes, it will adapt and be here long after we’re gone.

15·3 years agoGonna need some citation on Secret Invasion. I think that’s a bastardization of the fact that AI was used to create the intro graphics which is widely known and talked about, but not used with the scripts.

5·3 years agoI’m the same way. I would love if there was a 15 mini. I’d consider the 13 but USB-C is one of my main drivers and the fact it’s already 2 generations behind.

7·3 years agoQuestion for all of you all. I’m switching from an Android since my phone is 3 years old and there is certain things iPhone supports that Android doesn’t. The USB-C switch was the final straw for me. Should I get the 15 or 15 Pro? I’m by no means a power user (Sync, Mail, texting, an occasional video), but I like to keep my phone for about 3 years. Do I future proof and get the Pro, or save money and get the regular.
