Browsers@lemmy.ml•I tried Vivaldi on Linux just to find out that it’s not for me.
1·9 hours agoIn my opinion, uBlock Lite can’t even stand in front of uBlock Origin. When Firefox is still there, I am not ready to make compromises at all just because they launched MV3.

101·1 day agoActually, it’s the opposite. In many countries other than America, WhatsApp is the default messenger for everything, including government services. And all these privacy flaws also affect them too.

1·3 days agoI said these browsers currently allow installing MV2 extensions; I didn’t predict about the future. Ok, ungoogled chromium will remove the flag in the future, and it can also affect helium. But it’s in the future; currently that flag is still there.
Brave is sued for its shady practices, ok! But we are talking about the installation of Manifest V2 extensions in the Chromium-based browsers, which the title explicitly says Firefox is the only browser that now allows you to install ublock origin, which is misleading. Brave still supports ublock origin, no matter if someone hates the browser or someone found it self-hosted.
So what do you guys find bad about me mentioning Brave? Also please mention a word: I’m saying these browsers are going to support MV2 extensions (ublock origin) forever.

Because Mozilla VPN is a paid service. But actually there are more well-maintained VPN providers available for a decent price with a strict no-log policy. for example, IVPN, Mullvad, Windscribe, Proton, etc., so there is no need to use the Mozilla VPN. Also, Mozilla VPN is based on Mullvad.

1·4 days agoAdvertisements with random buttons that download malicious files into your system redirect you to phishing sites.
Btw, Mozilla has its own VPN, and I don’t recommend using it.

1·4 days agoEcosia has desktop browsers too? I have never heard about it at all. Anyway, I am not interested in that company at all.
They claim to be environment friendly by planting trees and still uses AI. That’s really weird.

3·4 days agoThe VPN is not its own. Vivaldi partnered with Proton VPN. The company always offered free servers at unlimited bandwidth. So all the appreciation goes to Proton. Also, when you are clicking on the VPN, it auto-installs the ProtonVPN extension from the Webstore and says you need to sign in. I mean, it’s not too hard to search and install ProtonVPN from the webstore. For me, that VPN icon does not look like a wonderful thing done by Vivaldi.
no matter how many controls it gave. Everything always feels half-baked. For example, why can’t Vivaldi read web page contents like Edge does?

5·4 days agoNothing is perfect, though. We always have to keep one Chromium browser as a backup when Firefox faces compatibility issues on many websites. You can choose from many, including ungoogled Chromium, Brave, Helium, etc., which respect privacy.
Also, there is an extension called ‘Chrome Mask’ in Firefox which helps most of the time.
At least Firefox has a disable AI switch, while many other browsers are just forcing it.

4·4 days agoI didn’t say “brave” is a goat. I said Brave has some good features compared to Vivaldi. I also mentioned ungoogled Chromium and Helium, which seems like it didn’t catch your eye. Only you noticed, brave, right? Good!

5·4 days agoAm not promoting Brave but saying what the drawbacks I found in Vivaldi when daily driving it. Sadly no browser is perfect.
This was really helpful and redirected my thoughts down a different path. I need more free time to even think about this. Humanity and existence are more complex than I thought.
So everyone we see and we interact with is actually us in different levels of consciousness or knowledge about everything, even people with completely different mentalities.
Most of the time I try to imagine myself in other people’s lives. Like, what if I am an orphan or a beggar? As a beggar, if I get ill, how do I treat myself, etc.? Will they allow me in hospitals? And all the thoughts end in uncomfortable ways about life. When I talk about this to others, they don’t like this at all and ignore me completely.
Don’t know why, but I am refusing to be like others and continue to follow these weird thoughts. Currently I am completely alone, and my thoughts have become powerful enough that they can’t be changed anymore.
