Samsung health can track some crazy metrics from just the Galaxy watch. I wouldn’t be surprised what else they can accurately estimate. Pic of the data from a recent run.

Your payment processor and creditor are probably also selling your info btw. If you use a service like Google Pay or Samsung Pay there’s a layer of anonymity between you and the merchant at a minimum. Google has an incentive to monetize your data, but they for sure don’t sell it. Companies pay them to advertise to certain demographics and geozones, but parting with that info would make them obsolete in a heartbeat. That’s the strategy nowadays at least. Hoard the data and tightly control access to it. Last time I checked(it’s been a few years), only like 8 people at Google even had the ability to decrypt user data with master keys to comply with lawful orders given by courts, and even then they had a good track record of denying subpoenas due to an unreasonable request for mass amounts of user data outside of specific timelines or even data on people who were within a geofence at the time of a crime. It’s why there moving your maps timeline away from their severs and onto the device. I’m all for giving companies some shit where they deserve it, but in my opinion this kind of stuff gets blown out of proportion and parroted everywhere without much explanation.
False. We got a bunch of good pizza a couple of weeks ago, then came in yesterday to mass layoffs.

1·1 year agoI’ve thought about it, but decided it’s probably not worth getting sent to HR over. Chances are they’d be just as clueless and wouldn’t find the joke very funny. Would be hilarious to watch the chaos unfold though.

12·1 year agoI have a laser engraving machine at work that houses a class 3 fiber laser. The amount of people that lose their shit when you open the door to add/remove parts or straight up walk 50ft around the thing is insane. All because of a little sticker that says “Caution- Laser Radiation”. They seem to think it’s a reactor core or something. No matter how many times I’ve explained the difference between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and showed them the data sheet and safety interlocks, I get the same one line argument “It says radiation. It’s gonna give everyone here cancer.”
Lots of customization options and yeah, it’s what we know. I’m comfortable with how the app organizes stuff and am happy to support the dev.

1·2 years agoNice, it’s a good upgrade. I’ve been enjoying it so far. Still miss the microSD, but it’s got so much internal that I don’t think I’ll care much. Did you use the $100 off accessories? The Galaxy Buds 2 pro were discounted by $130.

1·2 years agoJust upgraded through Samsung Direct to the s24 Ultra from note 20 ultra. They have really good deals right now. Its probably the last opportunity to get $550 trade in on the n20u.

31·2 years agoI ride an EUC that can put down north of 15KW, and after getting used to it over the past year I could honestly use more power for riding ATV trails. I’ve pulled 16KW just hopping tree roots at low speed. But then again, it can do 50mph up a 25% grade fairly easily.

2·2 years agoIt might be that I don’t leave the PC on all the time, I just hit sleep. But still, it shouldn’t strong arm me into updating after a day or two of the download. Also hate having to RegEdit Edge off the thing after each one.

I used to prefer cotton and linen when I lived in the southwest, but now in the northeast its almost deadly. After the switchover to synthetics I realized how short the lifespan on natural fibers was. The Blaklader X1900 work pants I have use cotton ripstop as a base layer and it wouldn’t last more than 9 months without disintegrating, while the nylon parts looked brand new. Same with t-shirts, they’d start falling apart after 6 months or less sometimes. Probably the humid environment though.
Over 10k miles here, not a scratch. My brother though, he’s biffed it at 45mph. Got back up and kept riding. These things are awesome
There are a few websites that can separate stems. I use lalal.ai to get the bass line and then convert it to tabs using another service.

3·2 years agoThose use cases already exist to an extent with current products. I use google translate every day on the jobsite, google maps already provides step by step navigation, youtube videos guide me on car repair, smart sensors with phone and smartwatch alerts for almost anything you can imagine, rollable and thin film transparent displays for walls and windows. Its hard to see AR/VR overtaking existing technologies except for niche use cases. The tech is gonna have to advance well past 2030 projections to be both cheap and feasible for practical use. Batteries will need an order of magnitude higher energy density and microchips will need to pass the teraFLOP barrier while consuming less than a watt of power, all while fitting into a comfortable and unobtrusive form factor suited for long term daily use. I don’t see that happening anytime in the next decade honestly.
Try out the Radio Garden app. It lets you pick almost any radio station worldwide and lets you pick through them on a globe. I found a ton of my current favorite artists through it. A few of my coworkers from Venezuela were thrilled to be able to hear stations from their hometowns.

Average person here. I just want all my stuff to work with minimal intervention. And for me at least Google delivered. So that’s what I went with. I work too much to really care. I hate ads so I go with stuff like YouTube Premium, but for normal sites you have to stay on top of the latest methods and find workarounds to make ad blockers work perfectly. It’s just not a big enough inconvenience for me to dedicate what little time I have to deal with.
