“capitalism is good for the people”
This is clearly meant to mock that statement, and for good reason… But does the creator of the image think Europe is not capitalist?
Europe is capitalism, too.
How many passenger trains even run on these sparse US rail lines? This is a problem in Europe, too, some of the lines might even be purely for freight.
I’m also fascinated by this US railroad project: maybe the first time the US decided to sell such vast rights & opportunities to the highest bidder without any ethical concerns, with such obvious result 100 years later.
Railroads in France at least were built by private companies too.

That’s 55,000km of bullet train track. The world has a total of 71,000km of high-speed track.
