    Europe is capitalism, too.

    How many passenger trains even run on these sparse US rail lines? This is a problem in Europe, too, some of the lines might even be purely for freight.

    I’m also fascinated by this US railroad project: maybe the first time the US decided to sell such vast rights & opportunities to the highest bidder without any ethical concerns, with such obvious result 100 years later.

    Here’s just China’s high speed lines (top speed over 300km/h):

    That’s 55,000km of bullet train track. The world has a total of 71,000km of high-speed track.
