Active users of President Donald Trump’s social media platform have dropped like flies.
Trump’s Truth Social site, where he threatens other countries and posts self-aggrandizing AI slop, has experienced a dramatic drop in daily active users of its mobile app since last July, according to the Financial Times.
The outlet, citing estimates from the digital market intelligence company SimilarWeb, reported that the mobile site’s daily active users have plummeted from 436,000 in July 2025 to only 261,000 one year later.
I wonder what percentage of those left are bots?
I’d be more curious what percentage are reporters that feel they need accounts

It’s gotta be exhausting using a social media platform whose content is 100% politics all the time and its entire existence is in itself a political statement. Like, people complain about politics on Lemmy but at least you can sort of just ignore it and scroll past it. Yes, it’s invasive, but there are places where political discussion is pretty much verboten, especially the casual conversation areas.
Meanwhile, I doubt there’s a single post on Truth Social that isn’t politics-adjacent somehow, or if it isn’t it quickly becomes one as people praise Trump for the good things happening in their life or curse Trump’s enemies when bad things happen to them. “Took a big shit today. You mean, the people who know why social networks such as Facebook and X are bad, who despise their owners, know of the existence of the fediverse, how to use it and want to be fediverse evangelists in their social circle? Dozens of them.
Network effect is hard to overcome. Just try getting a few people to sign up with the Fediverse, nevermind an entire group. I remember trying to tell co-workers - in tech, mind you - about Diaspora and how they should sign up and check it.
I was met with dumb stares or questions about how it’s going to work if there is no money in it, or asking about “who is on it” (meaning, celebrities and so on) etc.
And that is from people in tech. JFC. Nevermind trying to explain it to people who have zero interest in tech…
