Just blocked lemmy.ml from my Lemmy account, and I swear to god it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done on this platform. My homepage feels actually clean now.
For the past few months I’d been seeing a lot of tankie posting and pretty much far-left propaganda on my feed. It got tiring enough that I finally checked my blocked-user list, and realized pretty much everyone I’d blocked was from lemmy.ml. So I just blocked the whole instance instead.
Saying this as someone who considers themselves a leftist: I used to think Lemmy itself was an echo chamber. Turns out lemmy.ml was the problem the entire time. Probably the reason I tolerated it for so long is that I agreed with a lot of what they posted, but like an oversaturated meme, I’d had enough. Browsing the platform was starting to feel way too tiring instead of fun, which defeats the point of being here in the first place.
The breaking point was seeing some dude post a “meme” implying North Korea and China are basically communist utopias and that the West sucks. I mean, the West does suck, but come on - you’re saying North Korea is the ideal the West should strive for? What the hell…
Having mindless tankies parrot ccp and russian propaganda is getting tiring.
No! It isn’t propaganda! You’re the one who is parroting propaganda!
Saying russia and china are dictatorships and stuff, i saw a post on VK that said exactly the contrary! And it must be true!
Xi Jinping said he cares about free speech, he can’t lie, only western politicians lie!
It’s not authoritarianism if I do it!
What a fucking chud loser you are
I believe it went over your head. This was a satire comment. It is made by OP. OP doesn’t believe in those words. Sarcasm can be used without writing “/s”.
No, it isn’t satire, i belive just about everything i read on vk.
their doomer, pseudo intellectual main course with a dessert of populist fantasy crap is depressing
at least their radicalization stuff was kinda spicy but it’s an addictive combo to melt your brain into the cult
Big talk coming from a Zionist
Whatabout capitalists parroting propaganda? Checkmate.
Yeah they are tiring too and they are destroying the country with their blind idolitry.
I was mostly making fun of tankies’ only argument being that capitalists do something bad too so it’s OK to do it themselves
Poe’s law strikes again, I thought you were that tankie.
Don’t be surprised if you find hexbear giving you similar twitches.
Their instance was already defederated from hexbear, so they never saw posts from there.
No no no. Twitch is owned by amazon. It’s not part of the fediverse.
Hexbear users are the funniest people on the platform
Some of the stuff I’ve seen come out of there is on the level of what /pol/ would cook up. Absolutely the most troll instance of the fediverse.
Except they’re not Nazis. Hexbear’ians at least know how to be funny tankies
i’m new to my instance that isn’t defederated from anything and I see an awful lot of whining about .ml hexbear and lemmygrad but i haven’t seen the users do anything. i’m more annoyed by the whiners so far.
Same. I don’t block anything and it’s perfectly fine tbh. So called “tankies” supposedly everywhere, but all I see are left-wing people.
It feels like people are upset about running into users who are politically left-leaning… on federated social media.
That’s like being upset about encountering queer people in the arts, or chuds in the weightlifting space, or conservatives at the gun range. What the hell did you expect?
So called “tankies” supposedly everywhere, but all I see are left-wing people.
Yes. Because “tankie” is just a pejorative for anyone to the left of the western Overton window
What? Tankie is a term that came around to disparage communists who sided with the USSR in sending tanks to Hungary. It specifically means authoritarian Stalinish stuff
Nobody in the year 2026 is using the word tankie in the context of the internal disagreement between British Trotskyists and Khrushchevists about the Hungarian uprising in the 1950s. Even you immediately - one sentence later - pivot to claiming it must means “authoritarian Stalinish stuff”, which is both incredibly vague and has nothing to do with the Hungarian revolution; a term that can be used for anyone to the left of the western Overton window.
I see why people block y’all. No. No one calls anarchists tankies. Confabulate as much as you want. It means what it means, and has meant since its inception. People like you, probably. And you fucking know it.
lol all they did was disagree with you relax
Lol like everyone in here complaining and blocking, when you were presented with facts, your true colors came out.
Softer than baby shit.
I see why people block y’all. No.
Oh no! Someone disagrees with you! Better reach for that block button! That’ll show them.
No one calls anarchists tankies
Yes they do. All the time. Ask me how I know.
Confabulate as much as you want.
Go back to reddit
It means what it means, and has meant since its inception.
You don’t seriously believe that the word tankie, in this day and age, is only used to refer to people who support Khrushchev sending tanks into Hungry half a century ago. So you’re just undeniably being willfully dishonest now. And for what? What is the point about lying about this?
People like you, probably. And you fucking know it.
I was not born for several decades when the Hungarian revolt occurred and have no real opinion on it, so no, I don’t “fucking know it”, I know you’re fucking wrong, and are trying to cover that up with impotent aggression.
No one calls anarchists tankies
Yes they do. All the time. Ask me how I know.
You know because George Soros paid you to tell that lie probably!
No one calls anarchists tankies.
Happens all the time, it’s a right wing/ center-lib tactic to sow division
As somebody who was able to see those before they got defederated: If they’re not denying stuff like that Russia is the aggressor, then they have improved and the common conscious is just slow to forgive.
It was “they must be trolls” levels when I still saw them. Pure ragebait levels. And you did often get the feeling that they were just trying to be as edgy as possible.
What’s wrong with people expressing their opinion?
You mean like JAQing off? Like trolls?
No, that’s not what they said
but i haven’t seen the users do anything.
It’s not the users people block over, blocking an instance doesn’t stop you from interacting with the users.
What it does, is block every community from that instance from your feed, that’s it.
People block .ml, because while some decent communities may exist, their admins will see your comments elsewhere, then find any/all comments on their instance and either harass you or ban you.
The block just means you won’t accidentally stumble into a place they control.
The minority of users who are really problematic, are likely to be banned everywhere else already
their admins will see your comments elsewhere, then find any/all comments on their instance and either harass you or ban you.
Citation lemmy.ml admins do this please? Also isn’t this technically possible with every single instance of Lemmy?
Citation lemmy.ml admins do this please?
Their instance modlog…
Also isn’t this technically possible with every single instance of Lemmy?
It’s technically possible everyone ran an Epstein level child trafficking ring…
It would be insane to investigate everyone equally instead of just the people we know are doing it…
That should be obvious buddy
Wow that went dark quickly. Not sure any of that was warranted
Wow that went dark quickly
Wait till you hear about the “people’s” revolution under Mao…
Yep, that’s exactly the point
People block .ml, because while some decent communities may exist, their admins will see your comments elsewhere, then find any/all comments on their instance and either harass you or ban you.
I’m not sure what you mean. If someone harasses you then you can just block them. If you block an instance it’s users can still see your posts elsewhere and comment can’t they? I don’t politically align with the Lemmy devs but lemmy.ml is their instance and just like piefed, mbin, and others they can run their personal instance as they see fit. Isn’t that the whole point of federation?
If you block an instance it’s users can still see your posts elsewhere and comment can’t they?
Yes, I literally said that earlier in the comment you replied to…
blocking an instance doesn’t stop you from interacting with the users.
And…
they can run their personal instance as they see fit. Isn’t that the whole point of federation?
Yes, that’s why I don’t make posts that they need to change, I just chimed in and provided context for why blocking their instance so you don’t accidentally stumble into their places…
average day in .world when people just make stuff up
Just because that admin hid how to check on their instance, doesn’t mean they can hide it on every instance…
https://lemmy.world/modlog?page=1&actionType=All&modId=855573
That’s your main admin, constantly doing mod level moderation all over the place.
Anything they don’t like, anywhere on their instance, they censor.
he’s enforcing the instance rules, just like any other instance admin…
So…
First you said it was made up…
I provided proof…
So now it’s not made up, it’s just totally cool that it happens.
You don’t see any issue at all with lack of logical consistency?
you claimed that they do mod level moderation all over the place, deleting things they don’t like
your “proof” was an admin enforcing the instance rules, which every good instance admin does.
edit: admin, not mod
When I joined Lemmy, Lemmy.ml didn’t really feel different than Lemmy.world to me.
Maybe I’m taking crazy pills but it’s like they got more propagandist on purpose. As if they decided to up the anthem because .grad got defederated by all sane instances… And what’s propaganda good for if it doesn’t reach the right people?
Same with tankies having lemmy.world accounts. It’s not ironic, it makes sense.
Now Lemmy.ml became their “outreach” instance, where they ban everyone who criticizes them (even on another instance) or even for downvoting (Dessalines did that because his favorite poster ‘cowbee’ got downvoted by “bots” too much. Then they opted out on lemvotes, so no more checking yourself).
For an outsider it looks like everyone agrees with them because they upvote each other and every critic got either banned or they blocked them themselves and I’m starting to think this might be by design. I wonder how many users are banned from .ml, while still retaining general visibility through federation.
Isn’t it basically how Russia and China operate? Keep your own people isolated in a bubble where only your narrative is accepted and at the same time invade other spaces to manipulate their opinions?
Dunno if that’s “on purpose”. I think it’s more, back in the day .ml was the defacto standard instance, so lots of average people went there and you’d find a wider bandwidth of people. That might have changed with some people leaving and the new visitors not signing up on .ml anymore. That makes the rest of the group condense to people who pick .ml on purpose. But that’s not a deliberate plan, more how maths works. 😅
It’s the same everywhere in the Fediverse, and it always has:
Newbies always join the biggest server. Unless, of course, the biggest server is being hidden by most of the other servers (pawoo.net used to be the biggest of all Fediverse servers until newbie zerg rushes onto mastodon.social demoted it).
It’s a no-brainer. Don’t know where to go? Just go where everyone goes. Don’t know what to do? Just do what everyone does. Also explains the success of the iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S, the Ford F-150, the VW Golf, the Toyota Corolla…
Back in the day, when Reddit charged app devs $20M for their API, which killed 3rd-party apps, which enshittified Reddit, which caused the first migration wave to Lemmy, Lemmy still was so small that lemmy.ml was the biggest server, being run by Lemmy itself and all. So naturally, everyone went to lemmy.ml.
Eventually, in spite of people from all walks of life and with all kinds of attitude being there, lemmy.ml had become so unabashedly Tankie that countless users decided to move elsewhere. It had become blatantly clear that .ml, actually the TLD of Mali, stands for МДЯ☭ЇꙄМ-LЭИЇИЇꙄМ. Back then, lemmy.world was the largest non-Tankie server, so they went there.
It was due to that migration within Lemmy that lemmy.world outgrew lemmy.ml and became the biggest Lemmy server. Being #1 on the list of the biggest Lemmy servers, it also became the #1 destination for newbies, and the feedback loop started anew.
A side-effect was that the Tankie-to-non-Tankie rate on lemmy.ml grew because it was almost exclusively non-Tankies who left whereas the Tankies stayed.
Hey! My Golf was amazing! I wish they still made cars like it.
Hope it was a Golf 2 Fire & Ice edition…
I didn’t go to the popular instance initially. I will say though that the onboarding process had very confusing UX and I didn’t really understand what was going on or what an instance even was
You’re talking about Lemmy or Mastodon?
Lemmy. I thought about making a Mastodon account but didn’t see the need eventually, it’s not my style
Unlike Lemmy, Mastodon has on-boarding for dumb-dumbs.
Imagine you could simply load an app named “Lemmy” onto your phone. You launch it. You can enter a name, a mail address and a password. There’s a field that says, “Server,” and it already defaults to lemmy.ml. You don’t even have to touch it. You can ignore it. And you’re done.
Of course, the consequence would be lemmy.ml still being the biggest server by far.
This is literally how Mastodon’s on-boarding goes. Only that the default server, owned and operated by the makers of Mastodon, is mastodon.social (it’s about one third of Mastodon and some 22% of the whole Fediverse in terms of monthly active users), and you have two names on Mastodon, a short name for your Fediverse ID and a display name.
There are Mastodon newbies who take months to understand that Mastodon is not just one central website (that mastodon.social is not “the” Mastodon website). Or one central server infrastructure hiding behind a phone app. And many take years to understand that the Fediverse is more than just Mastodon. Some have joined in October or November, 2022, after Elon Musk had bought out Twitter, and who still believe that the Fediverse equals Mastodon.
All because they don’t have to deal with any of this when joining.
.ml opted out of lemvotes because they like to brigade posts and comments.
I was going to ask for a source on this. But on checking in on a comment or two in this thread. This explains a lot of the consistently inconsistent behavior I’ve been seeing the few times I do check lemvotes. Like I was wondering who the hell was down voting Jo, as they are always pretty chill and even keeled. Look at any other comments on the thread no problem. I look up anyone from Lemmy.ml and it’s 404.
That’s certainly not the behavior of an instance with nothing to hide. Though I would still think administrators should be able to see the votes and identity brigading. But this does explain a few things I’ve noticed on isolated instances when I’ve used it.
I mean why would a leftist like ANYTHING about current day Russia? China? OK, there are apologisms that can fit into a leftist umbrella. But RUSSIA? It’s a fucking kleptocracy. Anyone “leftist” saying otherwise is a crock of shit. They haven’t been red in decades.
I mean why would a leftist like ANYTHING about current day Russia?
Because they unironically believe that Russia = the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics. That Putin literally is the Premier of the USSR and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Maybe even that what Putin is trying to do in the Ukraine is reconquer his own territory from CIA-driven Western insurgents.
Basically, just because Putin is a Russian, he automatically is a ☭★✊ СФММꙠИЇꙄТ СФМЯДDЭ ✊★☭, therefore he must be anti-Capitalist, therefore he has to be a good guy.
These people completely distrust any and all Western media because it’s capitalist, imperialist propaganda, but they take everything from Russia Today and Sputnik News at face value because the good guys wouldn’t ever lie, right?
They say they’re against wars. But if Putin started a full-on invasion in Germany (while the country is in a state in which it’ll be defenceless within three days), I can guarantee you that they’ll cheer for the Red Army finally coming and purging capitalism and imperialism.
Seriously, we have a political party in Germany whose very principles appear to be based on this belief, and that tried to get a new Chancellor of their own into office.
Because they unironically believe that Russia = the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics. That Putin literally is the Premier of the USSR and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
This is a straight up, unqualified falsehood, but it will get upvoted here anyway because .world liberals are happy to accept lies if it lets them punch left.
What the actual fuck!
they are that stupid. a lot of folks are.
it’s just another form of MAGA brain rotted style thinking. it’s rife and all over the place.
they need a glorious leader to worship.
I have never seen somebody believe in Putin like that.
To believe that they believe that should be a hint to first investigate if that is true and if it is not, to reevaluate one’s own sources of information.
Cool, I have, in real life. also it was like 15 years ago.
Folks love to worship strong men leaders.
In their view, the world is black and white. They hate to be inbetween, they need to “choose a side”. They can’t say US and China suck both, or fuck Israel but also fuck Hamas, they need to be “pro” something. Because most of them grew up in it, they are mostly opposed to western countries - but they can’t leave it like that, they need to be anti imperialist. And that means siding with Russia, Iran, North Korea, China etc., the enemies of the west. It is absurd, but that’s how easy it is. Some months ago we all watched how Iran killed thousands of its citizen on the streets - now that the US attacked Iran, they sympathize with the Islamist mullahs! Because… fuck Israel or something? It’s a really narrow world view and it makes of course no sense, I mean who is imperialist if not Russia lol?
In their view, the world is black and white. They hate to be inbetween, they need to “choose a side”.
It’s literally the opposite, dumbass; you lot can’t accept the Wests enemies being described as anything less than pure, infernal evil, so when you see people having nuanced takes on them, you flip out.
You can disagree without calling people names. Please stop.
Oh the irony, you say they are wrong and it’s the opposite. Then proceed to prove them right in the rest of your response. It’s just too perfect lol
Oh the irony, you say they are wrong and it’s the opposite.
This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. Hard to believe it’s not a bit
“People disagree agree with me? Must be a conspiracy of evil foreigners!”
It’s great that Qanon tier conspiracy is just mainstream liberal thought now
Isn’t it basically how Russia and China operate? Keep your own people isolated in a bubble where only your narrative is accepted
It’s the authoritarian playbook.
Also how MAGA keeps ~30 million US voters hypnotized. Just like Russian ZOV
zionist complaining about ‘authoritarians’

I think you will still see users from lemmy.ml despite the instance block. I have blocked it about 2 years ago and its the only reason why I am still here. I hesitated at first because of the open source communities, but then I thought, fuck it
Yes, it only blocks the communities and servers showing up in your feed.
but then I thought, fuck it
I feel like this one half sentence explains all of human history.
LEEEEEEEERRRRRROOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY mmmmmmmmmmmmJJJJJJEEENNNNNKKKKKKINNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSS
Yep, tracks :)
Actually… both halves do? 🤪
I joined the .ml server because it was the dev server. Looking at the communities I subscribe to most are on other servers. Occasionally people ascribe beliefs to me based on my home server but so far I haven’t bothered looking for a new home.
When I first joined there were a bunch of popular instances that closed down so choosing a non-dev server seemed like a bit of a gamble. Same with mastodon servers.
That’s something that is criticized often - that the devs are not independent but instead try to push their instance as the “main instance”. But yeah I guess there are a lot of people like you. Don’t forget there is no Karma system, it does no harm to change the account from time to time, I do it yearly.
Lemmy.ml is like 8th in the list on join-Lemmy.org. Doesn’t seem to be pushing?
The Lemmy software developers are the admins of lemmy.ml at the same time. Instead of being neutral, they push their questionable political agenda onto the instance. lemmy.ml is 8th now, but 3 years ago that was different. Also the most open source communities have been there, I don’t know really if that changed meanwhile.
If you started a project, wouldn’t you list your server up top? The fact they changed it should tell you all you need to know. Also it’s their instance, they can do with it what they want. That’s like saying someone painted their house a color that is questionable. Block it and move on.
Sorry I just don’t think it’s right to pass judgement on people for doing what they want with their project or instance especially when they designed it in a way that anyone can set up their own instance do do what THEY want with their own.
If you started a project, wouldn’t you list your server up top?
You can bet I would. But when the participation in the project grew in the way Lemmy did, I would step down from my instance admin rule and pass to someone else. I am not saying they should unlist the instance, all I say is that the roles should not be mixed.
Block it and move on.
That’s what I did, but that doesn’t mean I can’t talk about the topic here.
Sorry I just don’t think it’s right to pass judgement on people for doing what they want with their project or instance
I can understand what you mean. The problem is that this constellation prevent Lemmy from growing because people are weirded the fuck out by the statements that are being made on lemmy.ml and especially the moderation strategy of the developers. I can recommend taking a look at !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works and sort by Top. Some of the stuff is about others members of the tankie triad and some is bs, but it quickly gets clear who you are talking to.
Hmm I see nothing - I guess the posts don’t federate back to .ml?
The Lemmy software developers are the admins of lemmy.ml
One of many reasons I’m on PieFed not Lemmy
the main reason you’re on piefed is because this is how you behave when zionism comes up:

Without the context, it’s difficult to discuss. But I don’t see why we should favour one religious extremist group over the other tbh
Nah, seeing folks from there is fine, but i would rather not see their posts
I agree. I only mentioned it because your motivation was the list of blocked users from ml you already had.
It used to be the case that, aside from hexbear and Lemmygrad (both defederated from on your instance), 90% of the most trolling comments came from Lemmy.ml. However, immediately after Trump won the USA election, I started seeing that behavior all over the place. Perhaps that timing is mere coincidence, but regardless, blocking all users on that instance (which PieFed allows you to do) no longer works to keep the most batshit insane takes from my feed.
Also I have consistently seen people commenting on that instance (and on Lemmygrad) about how proud they are that no does not mean no, but rather that they need to push forward harder - by making alts to mask their associations - and which they readily do.
So I was adding historical context to your statement here: I see what you mean, now, but a couple years ago things were notably different. Then again, obviously not all trolls are the same, and trolls exist everywhere - which I should know, being one myself (as people keep telling me:-).
Whining about .ml takes up more of my feed than .ml

sorry, didn’t see your comment, I have you blocked
;-)
Experimenting with blocklists is fine and how you find your comfort zone on Lemmy.
I once made an experiment in which I blocked lemmy.world - not out of spite, but to just see what the rest of Lemmy has to offer. Turns out, quite much!
Still, too many niche communities are hosted on .world, so here I am again.
I tend to agree that the majority of communities are hosted on 3 major instance’s its a concern that makes it difficult remove any of the 3 or 4 mega instances regardless of policies or practices.
I see many saying just boycott or block .world but, a decent source of communities im in are listed there. I know it’s against the spirit of fediverse but I don’t see that changing any time soon.
It’s an inherent problem with having both users and communities on the same instances, and just how humans tend to operate in general in that we automatically gravitate to others and clump together.
I think it was @rglullis@communick.news who was saying that in an ideal world there would be two types of instances, one for users and one that only served as hosting space for communities. That way you could block or defederate user groups without losing access to entire communities.
Of course, we’re way past the point where reorganization into a structure like that is feasible. But it’s interesting to think about.
Thank you! At least I don´t feel so alone now. :)
we’re way past the point where reorganization into a structure like that is feasible
I am still optimistic about it. It will be impossible to make one huge push in this direction, but slowly people will come to realize that this is the most sensible approach. For example, I’ve noticed that !nba@nba.space started to get more activity because !nba@lemmy.world is considering moving out of LW, but are spending a lot of time debating over a lateral move. If only they had accepted when I first invited them to join as mods from the topic-specific instance, this would’ve never been an issue.
That is an interesting concept, I would argue that it wouldn’t tackle the root cause of why most would want to federate due to rules just being universally applied to both the user instance and the community instance for the mega instances, and it still wouldn’t do anything with it being against the spirit of the fediverse in terms of needing to spread or web out, but I agree it would be nice.
Lemmy.world is clearly run by a bunch of incompetent, at least slightly bigoted, idiots and it really shows in the overall quality of the community that results.
I think the most toxic thing about Lemmy.World is a pervasive belief that stricter rules and more automation will make everything better and they are just so painfully, blatantly wrong about it that it hurts.
cool. i disagree. in my 3 years on fedi it’s been the most chill instance that is more hands off than many of the other ones.
and the userbase is far less militant than other instances.
piefed.social is fairly chill too
The developer for Piefed.Social’s main front end app that they develop literally has censorship baked into the code with hardcoded instance blocks that are not obvious to the user or even a new instance creator who doesn’t look to far into the details…
So what are you saying is, your bubble is nice and you aren’t willing to confront how or why the bubble looks as unchallenging to your belief systems as it does :)
https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/72685299
https://lemmy.pobierz.net/post/1293
I discovered this after upgrading our instance yesterday, which also upgraded all frontends to their latest versions as well. After I did, our Tesseract frontend stopped working and I noticed immediately as it’s been my primary for a while. Initially I thought it was an API version mismatch, but no, it was much worse.
Someone pointed out that the developer of the frontend added an explicit hidden and unmodifiably blacklist which includes any and all instances to the left of Kissinger. There’s a commit which also explains their specious reasoning about our instance specifically, as it seems we’ve been on their shit list for a bit longer than that.
This instance and its admin staff encourages identity politics, groupthink, mob mentality, and extremist solutions to societal problems. Users who advocate violence are not moderated so long as the admins agree with the target. Caution and critical thinking are advised when interacting with this instance or its users.
When you use tesseract to connect to one blacklisted such instance , you just get a message informing you that Tesseract is “incompatible with that instance” which leads one to think of a technical issue, like an API mismatch, rather than the dev being an opinionated coward.
Isn’t it funny how all the software developed by turbolibs, like Piefed and Tesseract, end up with hidden control mechanisms from developers who think they know better than everyone else? That they don’t just think they deserve to tell you what you should think, but they should manipulate you to think it? Isn’t it funny how libs go on about how bad it is to support lemmy due to the ideology of the devs behind it, and yet lemmy has 0 opinions as a software? It does make one think…
Anyway, I forked - it as one does - and disabled the blacklist, but since this is a massively ideologically compromised software, I’ll doubt I’ll keep this frontend up after Lemmy 1.0. I think we’ll bring up mlmym again now that someone’s maintaining it again.
yeah. i also blocked db0 manually too. no idea what the other instance is. pretty sure i blocked db0 before it was a standard block on piefed.
i have no interest in anarchists and their delusional worldviews and their fantasizing about violence and revolution.
i don’t have a belief system. but i notice pretty much everyone fedi loves to tell me about how wrong mine is and how i need to believe what they believe or I’m a terrible awful shitty human being.
i also don’t buy penis enlargement pills, or listen to fundamentalist Christians, or flat earthers and lots other things. those folks also ‘challenge my belief system’, but my belief is that they are deranged and obsessed with falsehoods.
mormons come to by door a few times a year and want to educate about how christ will make my life meaningful and amazing, i also don’t listen to them either. and i highly doubt you are letting them into your home to lecture you too.
i don’t have a belief system.
facepalm I really hate being reminded constantly of how important a well rounded education with arts, language and critical thinking stressed as well as STEM concepts is…
Yes, you most definitely have a belief system just as much as you most certainly have biases, it is part of being a human being.
Oh yeah, what is my belief system them?
according to posters on lemmy, I vote for trump, but i’m also far left, i’m a centrist lib, but also a far right socialist, etc.
weird how that there is zero consistency in how others categorize me… perhaps because I don’t have a rigid well-defined system of belief that they insist I must have. you have have beliefs about the world without them being systematic or unified under any particular ideology or political grouping.
though i understand that for most fediverse users, this idea is inconceivable, because they live to define themselves and others by belief systems, and like you, then immediately go for insults about how stupid, dumb, and ignorant you are, if you don’t agree with them about your own beliefs.
because you know, just insult, mock, and harass anyone who doesn’t agree with you. as you just done. because you are some superior being who is so well-educated and I am clearly an ignorant fool who should listen to you and your wisdom.
i don’t have a belief system.
Lol. A parody of yourself
Says one of the least chill people on lemmy.
Could someone give some examples of these leftist propaganda posts? I just browse all top day, maybe they get diluted enough for me to overlook these… i’ve seen this argument pass by so many times.
I got banned from memes in Lemmy.ml over whether genocide in China is real. All the supporting evidence provided to me was from the Chinese government.
Not saying US propaganda is trustworthy either blindly believing propaganda from any government is wild.
I was also told that no one died at Tienanmen Square in that same thread.
Try commenting that maybe, just maybe, Stalin wasn’t the greatest benefactor of humanity, ever.
YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND HE HAD TO MURDER MILLIONS SO THAT 10s OF MILLIONS COULD BE MISERABLE AND LIVE IN A CORRUPT OLIGARCHY REGIME, WHERE THE QUALITY OF LIFE WAS DECADES BEHIND THE WEST.
and don’t forget how glorious and prefect and FREE life is in China and North Korea.
Trotsky would have been no better than Stalin.
Then watch the fireworks.
Want to really piss people off?
“Over the last 50 years, regulated market economies have produced more wealth, pulled more people out of poverty, and resulted in less war than any other economic system in any period of history.”
In other words, the status quo of the last 50 years that everyone blames everything on, was in fact an exceptionally GOOD period of human history.
“Can you give me any examples?”
“No, but I can give you a lie I just made up!”
What’s so hard about that? You are jumping to conclusions because my account is registered on lemmy.ml because at the time it seemed like a good place to start.
Stalin wasn’t the greatest benefactor.
Now you say it about Trump, Netanyahu and Putin.
If you criticism the Chinese government on a .ml instance, you will quickly get banned for “rule 2: xenophobia”.
Go to basically any comment section of a politics-related popular post on a .ml instance. I can almost guarantee that there will be some china/Russia/north Korea brainless take.
Keep your your eyes open for new posts on !memes@lemmy.ml
Check out !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works, but you need to log in from another instance, as your admins don’t want you to see that community.
My post history.
People should block users and instances that they dont want to see. They are in charge of their account. Then you wont have to feudpost about these people you blocked because you wont see them.

I have never noticed any problem with lemmy.ml.
Block all the low-quality meme/image content if lemmy feels tiring. Stop consuming garbage.
“Saying this as someone who considers themselves a leftist”
Which country do you consider yourself a leftist in?
I think you can be legitimately a Leftist but also not insane. There’s a lot of posters over in that part of Lemmy who talk like they’d be overjoyed at the idea of rounding up everyone who’d ever expressed a view to the right of Trotsky, on Day Zero, and sending them to the gulags for being an Enemy of the Revolution.
Now you are definitely from the usa
They’re also somewhat lacking in enough self-awareness to realize when they’re really not presenting a good case for themselves.
(edit oh wait nm I just spotted it’s a 2-week-old account being obnoxious, easy one for the block list)
there are those but they’re not that many. i’ve blocked like 3 users from .ml that were basically posting nothing but pro-russian ragebait (and an alt of one of them ban evading a 30 day ban) and it’s mostly fine
they’re just very very loud, but if you just block a few users you can have a nice time
to the right of Trotsky
This shows that you have never read a discussion from there.

THERE IS ONLY THE US
;-)
The only country there is, of course, Brazil
Fair enough, there was a chance you were from the usa and claiming to be a leftist, I was going to laugh at you.
Good work on the shaving!
It sure would be swell if people could, at the very least, elevate to a 2d view of politics. Hearing the majority of quadrants II, III, and IV all referred to all “far-left” is confusing at best.
I just scrolled a few pages on that instance and it seems like youre being dramatic.
ML is not far-left, it pretends to be in order to spread pro-Putin, pro-Russian, and pro-Republican state propaganda because they know it’s destroying America. ML and Russia are about as socialist as the Nazis claimed to be.
While I agree they aren’t far left. They are sincerely more socialist than the Nazis were. The problem is, they are often as authoritarian as and group think vulnerable as maga, nazis, etc. Economics is fine. But it should never supersede or dictate social policy.
And all these heavily centralized States weather corporate or otherwise always fall to the same flaws. Power calcifying and protecting itself. Not the people or Society.
Sortition based governance when?
