I have a prediction. The sun will not run out in our lifetime and will keep on shining. Oil might be a problem, and become scarce

And it’s hard to mine oil on top of almost any building while it’s rather easy to collect solar on almost any rooftop. This decentralizes the grid which is good for disaster recovery and national security.

You know how capitalists love a disaster. They’ll sell shovels all day while cornering the market on ladders. All the resistance to wind and solar comes from big money.

Bad for profits though. The sun is too free. How are they supposed to make money on this?

      • They know. Margins on oil are bigger. When oil price goes up, charge customers more immediately and slowly lower them is a classic for a reason. But when you build a solar park, someone invents cheaper panels.

Luckily they’re not the only people in the energy sector.

We do not need anymore sunlight until we figure out how to fix global warming. Personally I’m in the put benign pollutants into the upper atmosphere and make everywhere have forever British weather camp.

One day, all of elon musks starlink satellites will open up their secret space sails and block out the sun for the benefit of the oil industry. /s

My government’s arguments against solar: we need to build a billion dollar storage facility for natural gas because hydo doesn’t work in dry years and solar is too unreliable.

Me: you’re saying we need gas because solar is unreliable

Government: correct, the sun isn’t always shining

Me: and hydro has dry years

Government: yes, sometimes it’s just sunny all the time so there’s no rain for the hydo lakes

    Me: 🤦
