It must be a KDE version.
bash: klitoris: command not found...
:(Use the -f option to find it
There’s an awesome linux tool called “fuck”. When you make a typo in a CLI command and get an error message, all you have to do is type “fuck” and it looks at your last command and the error message and takes a guess at fixing it. If it’s right all you have to do is hit Enter. Super useful!
The most clearest description of file explorer: Dolphin (?)
Or nautilus. My assumption is the files are in your sea not in their cloud.
Lumberjack or woodpecker honestly would have been better names since file systems are basically trees
If the file system is a tree, naming the file manager for someone whose job it is to destroy the tree seems silly.
Is that where
rangergot it’s name?
The application most likely to cause confusion among True Gamers™ who got fed up with Windows.
(PRO TIP:
dolphinis the KDE file manager,dolphin-emuis what you really want. PRO TIP 2: To defeat the PulseAudio daemon, shoot at it until it dies)Oh, a hybrid of dolphin and an emu. What a wonderful idea.
To defeat the PulseAudio daemon, shoot at it until it dies
Jack is potentially the most sensibly named.
Is pipewire pipe or wire? Only the gods are allowed to know that.
Just remove the execute bit and then it can’t run. (Or overwrite the first 4 bytes with nulls if you want to permanently disable it)
Krusader.
WDYM “explorer”, is that some weird name for a file manager?
You can explore file system, but how would you dolphin it?
I always loved the logically escalation with konquerer
It kind of makes sense. You are swimming the sea of misorganized random piles of files and folders you have created.
We need a command line interface named Toris. CLI Toris
I’m a dev. I develop little prototypes and things with Rust. I often create a new repository and don’t give the project a name, until I’ve coded enough of it that I know where it’s going.
A few years back, the makers of the programming language Rust started punishing people for prepending
rust-before the names of their tools and apps. They recommended that people append-rsto the end.The combination of these two things caused me to end up with a whole bunch of repositories named something like
cli-rsorclitool-rs, both of which I’d just pronounce asclitoris. There really is no drama like programming language drama.
Thought about this a little more. Cut and paste can be rebranded as excise and stitch.
klitoris: Permission deniedIs the GNOME version called Gock?
Gnome: GSpot. It doesn’t actually exist (GNOME devs though there was no use case for it)
The Clit is legit
I’m still amazed people use and browse the septic tank of the internet. Xitter just won’t stop.
It’s still the best social media for anything worthwhile. Hyperlocal news, sports, government agencies, corporate news, everyone posts there since nobody looks at Facebook anymore and Instagram is mainly for pics. All the good artists are on Twitter as well.
Nobody is posting to Mastodon because actually finding information and people is proper impossible. I mean hell I almost never see any posts from Mastodon getting posted to any meme community because everyone is all tech and politics and doom and serious.
And that’s why i support the pedophile trillionaire. For memes and stuff
Congrats on that btw, it’s those things that give me a tiny shred of hope in humanity.
But the “uneducated” part is not necessary, come on. Just because someone on the other side of the planet has probably not investigated the finer details of your domestic politics such as what social media platform was used to organise protests?
Just posting what I replied to the other person –
After being retrospective I agree it’s uncalled for but I am just tired of western bias of many social and political issues
It’s still the best social media for anything worthwhile.
I was a fool for expecting a serious response 🤣
Ironically nextdoor is actually pretty active, but goddamn is it a toxic cesspool of fascism. I can’t even try on that platform anymore. I tried for a few months, and naw. I don’t like surrounding myself with willfull ignorance.
Never heard of that in my life. Not available in my country I guess
I know that I’m just one person, but I find it interesting how I’m always online but never using twitter, ever, for anything. I’m not even trying to avoid it. And yet, it’s so damn popular. I just hate the format.
I actually don’t like the format too much myself but ever since they raised the character limit it’s a bit better to follow
“noooo i can’t read corporate slop from government agencies and my favorite ragebaititng influencer news on Mastodon nooo, must read Xitter!!!”
noooo i can’t read anything at all worth talking about and no one is on mastodon, noooo must rage into my depressed people’s echo chamber
I wonder if Twitter just hung onto market share in India while it hemorrhaged users in the anglosphere? IIRC we’ve seen this with Facebook in a few places. Basically everyone I want to follow moved to Bluesky or at least is posting their content there too - there’s a few local governments that are stuck in 2010 technologically due to indifference or lack of budget that still only post stuff to Twitter but that’s fairly unusual, but is infuriating enough for people to post about it.
Fuck blue sky. Use mastodon.
That’s possible, I don’t know literally anyone from India on Bluesky; In fact there’s more people I personally know who are on Mastodon as it’s prevalent in the FOSS ecosystem. But Mastodon doesn’t bring in general people easily so literally the only people I follow there are related to the FOSS ecosystem (and similar nerds)… A lot of the accounts I follow are just bots which mirror content from Twitter.
To all the users in chat having issues with klitoris, protip: it requires sudo for pretty much every command.
Hey, I finger the klitoris of my thinkpad all the time
Huh, I thought I was fingering the nipple this whole time
It’s pink, nubby, and you finger it. That doesn’t seem like a nipple to me ;)
Okay, fineeee. I’ll tongue it.
GNOME folks are like “well, before GNOME was even a thing, we had this application called The Gimp, and we kinda wish we didn’t call it that, so please don’t name your apps for laughs OK?”
Gonna make a TUI music player and call it D-Bussy
Aah D-Bussy! Everyone loves D-Bussy!
I’m kind of surprised that Apple didn’t name the iPhone just “Phone”.
Probably not enough to get recognised as a brand.
Don’t forget iPods were this big back when the iPhone was released:

And as others pointed out they had the iMac and iBook and iTunes and the iMac was full of more iNames that I can’t even think of right now. It fit their branding enough that SNL did a joke about iRan and iRack
