Feeling confident enough to try a more detailed tattoo and I think it came out great. Then I decided to push it with a magical twist. Does the effect fit the rest of the image or did I go too far?

This is amazing, especially the tattoo lights, it’s so creative
Thank you!
Luminiscent light looks a bit off to me but I don’t know how to make it work, really 🤔 Finding references for that is hard too. I was thinking of Avatar Sonam in the leaked Aang-Avatar movie, but there are just three-four shots of her tattoos shining, and the rest are them being darker blue skin dye.
I think, with eyes I could’ve tried to tone the shining down to equal level of brightness that is (a) not very noticeable under the light but (b) jumps out on the shaded half of the face. Same with the tattooes. And, probably, without as much of glow effect around the edge.
Narrow linework of uniform neon color is probably more doable, like in abstract visuals of microschematics in ads for chips and high tech. I can’t remember where whole shapes emitting light worked good in static except for spaceship engines, but there I assume the emitting shape is hollow inside.
I hope you don’t take it as too much critique, I myself very puzzled by how to do that.
That’s a lot to think about, thank you! It’s what I asked for. Best way to get better is to get feedback from others! Thank you!
An incredible piece, very well done and I love the painterly style. I think I would tone down the lights on the back ever so slightly. Everytime I try to look at another part of the piece, my eyes snap back to the lights on the back. They are bright enough that they feel distracting from the rest of the piece. I like the glow on the eyes and the surreal/supernatural feeling I get from them.
Great feedback. I agree. Next time!
Love it! Saved it. Should i credit BallShapedMan or another name
I painted it but used someone else’s photo for the reference. No idea who so I’m not sure what should be done. Just a random find on duck duck go.
Probably just me, but personally it reads almost more of a subtle cyberpunk than magic. Like someone tattooed the blossoms around the lights of their cyber implants. Neat either way though.
Oh I like that! Cyberpunk stuff is my jam. Thank you!
