I live in the Bible Belt, so I always hear “hAvE a BlEsSeD dAy”. “Yeah, fuck you too”, is what I think, but I mostly say “you too”.

I mean, these people know they’re just saying ‘fuck you’ in an acceptable way.

      Tell them ‘fuck you’, back.

Just smile and say, ‘may Beelzebub grace you with wisdom!’ just as cheerily and earnestly as they do.

Yeah there are a ton of deities/names you can rotate through “thanks, X bless you too”

Baal, Beelzebub, mephistopheles, Sithrak, Satan, Lucifer, etc

My favorite would be the Gnostic names for ‘God’, aka, the demiurge, Saklos/Saklas, roughly.

Apparently it translates to something like ‘The Blind One’.

I mean it is the Bible Belt, that’s just the local cultural greeting. You wouldn’t complain about the French greeting you in the french language either would you?

I have a neighbor who is extremely religious, and she keeps telling me to pray for things.

Twice now she’s asked what religion I am, just for me to tell her I’m an atheist. Both times she blinked like I grew another head.

Then she continued to tell me to pray for things…
