With all the backlash TikTok USDS has been experiencing this week I expected at least some mentions of Loops, but I haven’t seen nor heard anything so far. Even tech news outlets that regulary mentions Fediverse have been silent on Loops.
Was your experience different?
It’s not really a funding issue. Look at Mastodon when Twitter was bought, Eugen Rochko was able to capitalize on that.
I think the issue is primarily with main maintainer Dan (dansup) being self-described dreamer who jumps from project to project without being able to finish anything. Loops is even partially funded by EU through the NLnet grant, so funding is not an issue. He’s also seemingly hostile to community contributions and already alienated large spectrum of Fediverse developer community. So much so that there is even open letter asking for him to temporarily step down.
While Loops beta state was defintely a big part of it, it’s still was strange to me that it was not mentioned at all on corporate media this time, when in the past they did highlight it.
Lol… dansup isn’t perfect, but it’s always funny when I see these biased af accounts trying to bury him over the most petty shit.
Not sure what you mean by “biased af accounts” as I think this is like 2nd time ever I posted anything about Loops.
And I offered no opinion over “the most petty shit” apart from mentioning that it exists. Is it suppose to be a secret?
