My instance (db0, specifically the instance I use, not that I own it) has a rule that if a user says “Disengage” and nothing else, it’s forbidden to reply to them. I like the rule, but only a few instances enforce it. And it doesn’t help me on users on other instances.
You’re on quokk.au which IIRC is the one db0 just added to the flotilla, so you may be bound by that rule… or you may not. I’m really not sure. But you’re posting on lemmy.sdf.org, and if that instance does not recognise the Disengage rule, it may not matter at all. I’m not sure. I have never actually used it. I just like the idea behind it and I wish it was accepted throughout Lemmy. Or, optionally, if you could just lock your own comment, preventing you from editing it and anyone new replying to it. That would force all users to abide by it (though, I suppose they could still DM you).

Oh, sorry (if you wanted to be added). I only saw the sticky, I did not see the results.
My vote (on the db0 side) was to abstain, IIRC, with the objection that uniting a bunch of instances seemed to go against the intent of the Fediverse. My question was that if you found yourself adversarial to one mod and got banned, would that mean you got banned from several like-minded instances? I never got a great answer to that. But I think one person said the good outweighed the bad.
