I appreciate what the dev is doing, but I would say that we need better testing before the app is pushed onto the App Store. Last two weeks, we’ve had some annoying playback books where videos could not be unmute or scrubbed. And now the bottom five menu icons seem to disappear each time a user to go into the comment posting or post writing screen on iPad.

iPhone the entire interface seems to shrink at random times and then come back.

This is just a post to ask for slower lower quantity higher quality development.

Having built and maintained free software before as a solo dev, nothing grinds my gears more than entitled users. Maintaining a solo project and keeping the motivation to do so is hard, especially when users complain constantly. Sorry, I know this post comes from an honest place but it triggered a visceral reaction.

Solo dev here too mate. Nothing grinds my gears more too, but one thing. Knowing my software causes grief to my non-paying users. Especially grief I didn’t intend and could have avoided.

I tried to say it as kind as possible. If these bugs continue, people will just go to an alternative and this app will just die off, and then their work would have been for nothing.

Totally understand. That being said, the title is blunt and commanding, and that is what triggered me. If that kind of comment were directed at me, I’d lose motivation instead of improving releases.

When you are a solo dev, there is going to be some level of temptation to just do testing in production. You can’t just write tests for every edge case.

No idea if there are enough users to maintain a stable and nightly branches.

I must be lucky. I don’t know if I’ve run across a single bug in 2.5 years of voyager usage

Can’t speak for the rest, but the “shrinking when replying” thing is a known issue and impacts iPhone and Android.

It is, I think, related to the iPhone theme in the app (was enabled by default on my Android, for some reason). Going into the settings and changing it from iPhone to Android fixed it for me.

As another user said, the dev is doing a great job on this app with limited resources, and does test and check on the devices they have available, but “works on my machine 🤷‍♂️” is a real thing. Frustrating, but valid.
