With 10m you could pretty safely have a 400-500k “income” even for a family of 4 in a high cost city that should be plenty. It’s not Lambo money for a family, but it’s definitely enough to not have a steady job or be able to simply quit at any mild inconvenience.

It’s a bit tougher with kids, where you might not want to move too far from family if they help occasionally.

People constantly talk like this about the coasts and I get it, but this one was way over the top!
I live near San Francisco and it’s expensive here but not insane like 10 million isn’t enough. Only someone living in a beach house or something would say this. People like that choose vanity over practicality. Which to be fair is probably very expensive. 10mil in the bank can buy you a super nice place in Wyoming or somewhere but then you can’t flex your stupidity over a 4 million dollar 1100sqft property.
I’m pretty sure I can squeak by on the interest alone.
