flashlight@lemmy.world•Reintroducing Ceilingbounce - flashlight testing and runtime graphs for Android
3·5 months ago@solrize @flashlight Clojure has been maintained the whole time. Clojure for Android on the other hand… there may be some news about that soon.
I intend to put it on F-Droid. Their preferred process for that looks a little fussy, but I’m working on it.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Flashlight of the Year 2025
1·8 months ago@solrize @flashlight I fixed the internal links.
The Reddit link looks right to me. It’s a comment describing a hypothetical “Thrunite Neutron 1A”. Thrunite did make a light along those lines called the T10 v2, but it wasn’t nearly as well done as any iteration of the M150.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Review: Skilhunt M200 v4 - an outstanding everyday carry flashlight with 18650 battery and magnetic charging
1·9 months ago@tehfishman @flashlight It’s definitely improved in a bunch of little ways, but I’m not going to say someone who’s happy with v3 absolutely needs to upgrade. Someone who doesn’t have an M200, on the other hand really should think about it.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Review: Skilhunt EC500 - a long-range flashlight and USB powerbank powered by a 21700 size rechargeable battery
1·9 months ago@Perspectivist @flashlight That’s certainly a more powerful thrower than the EC500, but considerably larger and without the charging and powerbank. I won’t advocate one over the other since I don’t know your needs.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Review: Skilhunt EC500 - a long-range flashlight and USB powerbank powered by a 21700 size rechargeable battery
2·9 months ago@solrize @flashlight The Skilhunt EC series has offered USB-C for several years now. I’d actually prefer the magnetic charging for a light I’m using in a harsh environment as it’s more waterproof.

1·9 months ago@flashlight Unrelated to the EC500, comments on the site design update would be most welcome.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Review: Acebeam L16 2.0 - an all-purpose duty flashlight with significant reach
1·1 year agoI don’t think a direct comparison is really appropriate. The MH12 Pro has a straight body and fits reasonably comfortably in a pants pocket. The other two have considerably larger heads and most people won’t carry them that way.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Review: Acebeam L16 2.0 - an all-purpose duty flashlight with significant reach
1·1 year agoIf you can only have one, I think the L16 is a better choice than either of those Nitecores.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Review: Acebeam EC20 - an everyday carry flashlight that tries to bridge the mainstream and hobbyist markets
2·1 year agoYes, this one has 519As. It also offers the Luxeon HL4X and Luminus SFT25R.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Review: Acebeam L16 2.0 - an all-purpose duty flashlight with significant reach
1·1 year agoThat seems to be what the advertised specs say, but what I’m seeing in reviews is that the MH25 Pro comes up well short of its advertised output at power-on and throttles before the 30 seconds used for output measurement in the FL1 standard. It has a little more throw than the Acebeam, but only for about 25 seconds.
I did review the MH12 Pro and had similar results; it throttles very early, gets hot fast, and doesn’t perform as advertised. That one didn’t have close competitors for lots of throw in that diameter when it came out, but the MH25 Pro has several, and does not stand out among them.

flashlight@lemmy.world•SparkFun Spectral Sensor - AS7343 (Qwiic)
2·1 year agoNo it isn’t. It’s more similar to the Opple Light Master in that it measures only a handful of wavelengths while the i1Pro has a resolution of 10nm across the whole visual spectrum (and a little outside it).

flashlight@lemmy.world•Arbitrary List of Popular Flashlights - Spring Equinox 2025 Edition
2·1 year ago@tankplanker the big Convoys and the Noctigon M44 are good options with better efficiency.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Review: Acebeam L16 2.0 - an all-purpose duty flashlight with significant reach
1·1 year agoI want to congratulate Acebeam for being the first manufacturer to earn two five-star ratings from me, the other being the E75. Lights really have to stand out from the rest of the market for me to call them outstanding.

flashlight@lemmy.world•Review: Acebeam EC20 - an everyday carry flashlight that tries to bridge the mainstream and hobbyist markets
1·1 year ago@Onomatopoeia @flashlight There are plenty of Li-ion lights with similar operation. The classic dual-switch light where one switch is on/off and the other changes brightness is probably the easiest for people to figure out.

@solrize At this time, clj-android (and therefore Ceilingbounce) requires Android 8. It might be possible to support 7.
