I have the same saw, it’s really nice, can recommend a shop vacuum though. I just got a cheap one that i duct tape to the dust outlet whenever i use the saw.

1·1 month agoI also used talk (+turn server) for video calls but found i had to restart it often when no connection could be made, do you run into that?

2·1 month agoE.g. thumbnail generation maybe 5x slower than Immich in my experience. Loading folders in apps (in particular large ones) is also slower than owncloud OCIS in my view. I guess if you run a powerful enough machine there will be no difference? I have tried on two different Odroid single boards

21·1 month agoNow this could ofc. be different, if you can afford buying direct support from Nextcloud, but their publicly available options for selfhosting are so buggy and slow IMO that I speculate that it’s almost a net-negative influence on the self-hosted movement. They try to do too much and don’t look at their bug trackers.
Yea i read that, but isn’t this post about that not being an issue anymore?? // Edit: I mean in particular Patrick Breyer was been critical about the revised proposal, so him posting this now suggests that something new has happened?
What are the details about this? Not really apparent from the links
I in the process of doing that, but the most problematic thing is the keyboard shortcuts IMO. All the apps have their own default shortcuts, all defaulting to ctrl + * instead of cmd + *

7·2 months agoDer er to ting jeg ikke kan finde ud af:
- Alle internationale medier skriver at det er ‘Danmark’ der har fremsat forslaget. Er det så regeringen eller hvad? Tænk at Socialdemokratiet kører det lort her i stilling…
- Der skal være et opfølgende møde i EU et sted. Hvilken instans er det og er der nogle danske beslutningstagere involverede man kan skrive til?
Cool, i never really understood/knew the reasons for the Nextcloud fork. When you say ‘we’, does it mean you are affiliated with opencloud? What would my reasons be to use opencloud over owncloud?

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Ex-CISA head thinks AI might fix code so fast we won't need security teams 😆️️
2·3 months agoMy naive hope is that local models or maybe workplace distributed clusters catch up and the cloud based bubble bursts. I am under the impression, that atm. a big difference as to whether a tool works well or not is more related to how well all the software around the actual llm is constructed. E.g. for discovery - being able to quickly ingest an internet url and access a web index is a big force of the cloud based providers atm. And for coding it has a lot to do with quickly searching and finding the relevant parts of the codebase and evaluate whether the llm has all the required information to correctly perform a task.

2·3 months agoMitchell Hashimoto writes a lot of Zig with AI (and this interview is almost a year old), see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQnz7L6x068&t=490s How long since you have tried tools? I think there has been some pretty astounding progress during the last couple of months. Until recently i did not use it daily, but now I just cant ignore the efficiency boost it gives me. There are definitely security concerns, and at this point you should not trust code that you do not read/understand, but tbh. i’m starting to believe that AI might (at least in the short term) free up resources to patch stuff and implement security features, that otherwise was not prioritised before due to focus on feature development. What it does to the IT sector in the long run - who knows…

1·3 months agoI would like to do it outside company time, but on their machine if possible, but if not, i’ll just get another machine. But as others have stated there are some small print that says something like - knowledge gained through company activities will be their IP, it’s somewhat vague and can be interpreted in different ways

3·4 months agoThank you for the details. We have district heating here and no EV, that makes a big difference! We use about 15MWh of district heating each year but less than 2MWh of electricity. Our house is from the 70s, but have decent insulation, could be better though

2·4 months agoI’m curious, do you know how much you use for heating, cooling and the EV? I supposed those are the big differences to my household.

I just bought an old thinkpad (x280) and i’m delighted how much lighter it is than my 16” mbp
