  • i hate that i already conceded and googled “hasanabi house”, but absolutely nothing indicates it is a celebrity mansion. the price per square foot (PPSF) was like ~$750, and that was in the average range for West Hollywood. In fact, the PPSF of his house is hundreds of dollars below the average in other North American cities, like San Francisco (~1100), Vancouver (~1000) and New York (>1600).

it’s been 3 years since he bought a house for his and his family’s personal use. let it the fuck go, LOL

  • I’m not familiar with this author/speaker, but there’s a blurb from Sarah Kendzior that i’ve seen circling on instagram that I thought was interesting. It’s about liberals accepting atrocities under Biden that they would not under Trump:

The full text is here. I think what I find interesting is that I’ve never really connected the psychological/social effects of COVID-19 to the on-going genocides in Gaza and Lebanon. Sarah raises an interesting parallel (one that echos Aime Cesaire’s takedown of colonialism, imo) between the disregard for our shared humanity required to accept the ‘911 a day’ COVID-related death rate to a similar disregard for humanity that allows them to accept today’s genocides. It’s an undoing of “civilized” values.

We’re at a point now where Lebanon is being subjected to israel’s Gaza Doctrine, and it seems like most people don’t know or don’t care.

If not a complete disregard for humanity, is it boredom? It must be more than race-hatred. Does the death and suffering become too much for our brains to make sense of it, so we stop caring?

Had millions of people not been killed by COVID, would the world be less tolerant to genocide?

  • there’s something off about it to me too, but i don’t think i have the exact words to describe why…

like, we know that confusing antisemitism with antizionism is necessary for israel’s existence, but israeli propaganda is so void of subtlety that most people can/should be able to tell the difference. The “freyer” shit that i’ve seen is so much more subtle. it has the potential to do the same thing as israeli propaganda - blur the lines between Jewish identity and the zionist project - but in a lib-friendly, smug “gotchya!” kind of way. I don’t know who or what started “freyer”-posting, but it’s too subtle (imo) for the israeli regime to kick off.

it reminds me of the “Drumpf” discourse from an eternity ago. I guess that blew up after the Jon Oliver episode about it, and libs took it and ran with it, showing it off like “Aha! We know what he really is!”, but this time it is an easy vehicle for real antisemitism, instead of the typical useless liberalism
