Banks would fucking love this. They would be salivating at the idea that home loans can’t be discharged via bankruptcy.

Technology@lemmy.world•NZXT responds to damning Gamers Nexus video accusing it of running a "predatory, evil" rental scamEnglish
3·1 year agoWriting off the full value allows you to deduct that value on your taxes. The actual money you save on your taxes is the value deducted multiplied by your tax rate. For NZXT this will likely be well south of 20%.
They would be better off just selling the inventory at discounts that will actually move it but won’t because it would cannibalize their new hardware sales. Overall they are just deeply mismanaged and chose to do something horribly immoral to try to get out of it.

No they don’t. They sell the ability to display ads to users in a targeted fashion. The user data is how they do that and is their moat. Their entire market advantage is they don’t sell the data, instead you have to continually let them decide who sees your ads to leverage that data.
Google goes to great lengths to make sure only they have this data.

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta wants to charge EU users $14 a month if they don't agree to personalized ads on Facebook and InstagramEnglish
9·2 years agoThe users willing to pay are the most valuable users on the platform for advertisers because they are, let me consult my notes… willing to pay for things.
The logical conclusion is you must charge more for users to not get ads than your average revenue per user from ads or you end up losing money because the quality of your non paying users has taken a nose dive.

Be careful with the poor man, he is very clearly way the hell of his meds. Read the rest of his posts, he needs help and pity.
