I dislike swap solely because it gets used and when I accidentally open the same file twice then I regularly encounter problems with swap files when opening the file again later.

I haven’t used godot, so I only have some surface knowledge of it. One thing being that there are nodes, and that they are quite a powerful tool. Maybe these nodes can store some functions, in which case you only need to be able to write a function, but the structure and overall concept are not reliant on code (MAYBE, I do not know).

but op was mentioning love2d, which I have tried and it is only a framework based on the lua language. if you want to create an object, you have to code it. Which is why I refered op to an actual game engine which implements features to reduce the complexity of coding, being able to draw an object or node or whatever and give it function x as a property is way easier than using a framework.

Godot only needing code for optimization is just oversimplefied and not actually me knowing the engine. As far as I know the nodes lack performance compared to optimized code for the same task

I am not too deep into the topic but I’d suggest like any game engine over a framework like love2d. Isnt godot like only dependant on coding for optimization (fact check me on this one)? If you want to stick with lua there are also a few options for game engines

I hate AI, but still use it from time to time when 3+ searches would yield no result, or I am already quite adapt to a topic and just want some stupid research work done by a web scraper tool, or when searching on brave search and I just search for a command in bash or something like that on a topic where I don’t currently want to learn (maybe because of a deadline). I am inpatient at the moment, pressed for time and still want to try new things. It’s a faster search engine for me right now because search engines and wesites became infested with SEO, bots and AI slop, at least I get to control the answers a bit better

It really depends on your commitment to learning. As a side hobby 10 minute commitment while commuting – yea its a great idea. But with the goal to actually learn the languague it is not. Premade decks are like duolingo or like learning vocabs in the school, sometimes a bit useless and not really what interests you.

For me the deck that I use right now is kinda nice and I enjoy it. It focuses on vibes more than completness in hello-goodbye styled topics. Like a few cards about teineigo and conjugations of it to get a feel about it and then it moves on. But yea I am not much into languague learning and I would say it is a huge part to creating the deck after your needs. I just learn for a few minutes a day and have long breaks, its not my priority to actually learn japanese I only want some knowledge to understand anime better and it does work.

It can be a good starting point. Learn a fun deck and when you’ve done that and you are at a stage where you can comprehend enough, then you can make the effort for the extra vocabs that you encounter yourself. Altough I have found a lot of stock-audio-file decks that are boring af, so I am not sure if I’d recommend if I didn’t have that japanese anime deck.

First of, there are a ton of great language learning videos on youtube geared for each specific language, showing their journey and tools. Most boil down to these mentioned above

There are alot of great free anki decks for vocabulary when you are too lazy to prepare them yourself. I use one for japanese made from anime lines, you learn phrases said in actual media which is nice, sometimes there are some grammar rules explained if needed. I’d suggest to make an effort yourself and watch media, take a word or sentence, cut it out with some software to a short soundfile, add it to anki., sync to your phone. The extra effort stage of finding and translating a line is worth alot. Then you have the spaced repitition from anki. But as I said, just use a premade deck instead if you are too lazy for the software setup.

You are just able to say that because you spend 100+$ on the pre-installed OS. You could also spend the same amount for an IT person to install you linux and then have a very stable time anyways. Linux doesn’t force you to update, if something breaks you don’t need to interact with it. On many distros there are system backups preconfigured, if something breaks you can roll back pretty easily. There is a trade-off, ease of use and ease of fix. Linux is way easier to use, thanks to no bloat and package manager, but slightly harder to fix when a problem occurs, because you have to interact with the system. And to be honest, the system isn’t as scary. Documentation is often enough, but if you are lazy and want the fix currated there is AI to help you.
