Ontario@lemmy.ca•401 to be a 10-lane highway in Oshawa by 2028-end - Durham Post

Then let’s drill a tunnel under it, so we can have a highway *on* our highway!

Ontario@lemmy.ca•The entitlement of some Ontario drivers is absolutely astonishing. They are fully aware that you are breaking the law by going 15% over the speed limit. And yet they victimize themselves?

My understanding is, when they design a road they do calculate the “engineering speed limit”, the safe speed given road geometry and surface and visibility, etc., but then they mostly ignore it and assign an arbitrary limit from the standard list for that type of roadway.
We botched raising the limit for 400-series. We should have gone to 120km/h with actual enforcement, but what we did was 110 and a wink, and now 1 in 3 drivers do 130km/h.

Ontario@lemmy.ca•Doug Ford calls Netflix documentary on his brother Rob Ford ‘just disgusting’

Doug Ford is the premier of Ontario. His brother Rob was the mayor of Toronto (Ontario’s biggest city). He was very famous for abusing alcohol and other drugs while in office, then he died of cancer.

I would *love* to see an NDP government, either a majority or even in coalition, but I don’t see it happening in the foreseeable.
Ontario is too deeply captured by the Lib-Con status quo; we vote Liberal until their corruption breaks everything, then we punish them for a term or two by sitting home and letting the Con voters have it. NDP just aren’t a serious consideration here.
