Memes of Production@quokk.au•"there's too many people too sustain our way of life"
7·2 months agoReducing the numbers of humans on earth would not make any significant long term difference. As long as infinite growth is the core principle of the worlds biggest economies, it doesnt matter how many people there are. We would still at some point overstep all planetary boundaries.
Linux noob music guy here. Any chance the yabridge stuff will get fixed by a wine update or is it something only the yabridge developers can fix?

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•Everything is a grift these days.

Linux@lemmy.world•Mint is so much more usable than the last time I tried and I'm in loveEnglish
2·8 months agoStudio One, which i have been using for years, has a linux beta that does already work quite well. But only in a wayland Session which means… no 3rd party plugin GUIs. And no clue when this might change, maybe never. Probably a deal breaker for 99% of the target group. I really want to switch to Linux, but for Audio guys it can be a pain. Reaper rules tho.

5·9 months agoThe fact that as long as you have enough money you can pollute as much and consume as much ressources as you want is basically the core issue with capitalism. Its like having an ongoing oil fire in your yard and nobody is stopping you as long as you can buy new oil.
Hard disagree. While they are worse nowadays due to tighter budgets and schedules they elevated several otherwise mediocre movies so much back in the day. There still are some legendary voice actors i love to listen to. It creates an unique experience different from the original. AI on the other hand… hate it.

413·1 year agoGreat comparison, because playing either piano or violin is beyond 99% of all people who just want to listen to music. Common users and office workers have never even heard of Powershell.
Because they have been fed massive propaganda against EVs for years, they would never buy one anyway.

I mean… they’re quite open about it.
Im at the same point. I spent quite some Money on Studio one and plugins…i’ll probably try a setup with Wine and/or Yabridge soon. Wouldnt mind that much if i had to switch to Reaper.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•CDs are better than vinyl and most people listen to music on systems that sound dreadfulEnglish
182·2 years agoNope, mp3 is not “better” than CD since its a lossy format. It uses how we perceive audio so we notice it as little as possible, but you definitely loose details

News@lemmy.world•‘Forever chemicals’ used in lithium ion batteries threaten environment, research finds
13·2 years agoI’d say that tons of different battery technologies are in the making or already in production, same for recycling methods. I’d also say that people like you probably don’t give a single fuck about the batteries in all their other devices. Cutting down the production by banning single use batteries , enforcing reuse and recycling and of course offer public transport as an alternative to EVs wherever it is possible are also pretty common demands among your big bad “globalist” crowd.
