  • I would definitely prefer hardware switches for things like camera, microphone or radio.

…BUT if I had to choose between a software switch or no switch I would choose to have a switch. Being able to do things with my phone without using the screen can come in handy.

I can double press the on/off button on my current phone to launch apps or turn on/off the flashlight. I use the latter and wish it could do more.

A switch for sharing my location with my wife would be nice. I would like a switch for recording sound in case my boss tries anything illegal. Being able to trigger Ripple with something physical would make it way more practical. Locking Molly could also be nice.

I assume that different people would find different uses for a configurable software switch.

  • Wavelength isn’t very important but something around 445-555nm is easily absorbed, accessible and pretty. Strength is way more important. Something well made, focused and above 2000mW like this should never be pointed at a camera.

It could also easily and INSTANTLY damage eyes PERMANENTLY, even the reflections. It should be treated with the same respect as a firearm.

  • I think about this probably every month.

“Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they’re in good company.”

I used to read hilarious shit on r/sinkpissers as most people were joking. Kinda like the sub about drunk driving. It slowly evolved though. Last time I used Reddit almost all of the new posts on r/sinkpissers were serious and involved actual pissing in the sink.
