    Ich war gestern im Kino und hab “The Housemaid” geschaut. Sydney Sweeney verliert im Verlauf der ersten Stunde immer mehr Kleidung und als sie dann nichts mehr anhat, haben sie sich tatsächlich dazu entschieden, auch noch Handlung in den Film einzubauen. Hat mir ab dann tatsächlich ganz gut gefallen - wird kein Oscarpreisträger, war aber auch nicht so unfassbar scheiße wie Greenland 2 in der Woche zuvor. :D

    Diese Woche wird anstrengend. Ich muss viel IT-Gedöns in der Microsoft-Welt machen und zwischen lückenhaften, KI-übersetzten Dokumentationen und absolut beschissenen Administrationstools mit “Probiere doch Copilot aus!”-Bannern die überall aufploppen bin ich letzte Woche schon fast verzweifelt.

    Vielleicht reagier ich mich zwischendurch mit Doom oder Serious Sam ab. 🤣

    Meine beste Freundin lebt in Amerika und wir haben viel darüber geredet, als die ICE-Raids losgegangen sind. Als deutsche Kartoffel sollte man meinen, dass ich das einfach wegignorieren kann, aber es war doch erschreckend zu sehen, wie schnell die dort drüben ihre eigene Pseudo-SS aufgebaut haben, die Leute aus Autos zerrt und Türen eintritt. Das hat mich durchaus sehr betroffen gemacht.

    Die Inlandspolitik rund um Fotzenfritz und die AfD zieht mich auch arg runter.

    Ich mache es wohl wie viele andere in den Kommentaren hier. Ich lese weniger Nachrichten und betreibe Realitätsflucht. Habe wieder damit angefangen, jede Woche ins Kino zu gehen und Bücher zu lesen, im April geht’s auf ein Konzert und vielleicht treffe ich mich sogar bald mit einer sehr liebenswerten Brieffreundin. Alles in allem ist das soweit ein echt positiver Start ins Jahr.

    Dass die EU so langsam mal etwas Stärke zeigt und den USA mit Strafzöllen droht und Soldaten nach Grönland entsandt, ist auch ein positives Zeichen. Es kann zu einem neuen Zusammenhalt in Europa führen und das würde ich mir sehr wünschen.

    The Legend of Ochi.

    The trailer made it look like a great indie-fantasy movie with Willem Dafoe and Emily Watson. But the actual movie is full of AI-generated environments, the acting is subpar and Dafoe and Watson don’t have a lot of screentime.

    Sometimes I really question my AAA24 membership. 😅

    Megalopolis was equally disappointing. Granted, the movie has some amazing VFX and practical effects, so they cut all of the best shots into the trailer and made this trainwreck look competent and interesting. The actual movie then felt like a fever dream, you can really see respected actors like Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel struggle with their own script. Plus all of the really bad VFX shots that did not make it into the trailer, of course.

    At least we got the “Get back to the club” meme out of it.

    It’s pretty heavy which was weird for the first few days, but I got used to it. At first, it was a bit hard to hold that heavy brick in my hands and reach the keyboard on the bottom without losing my balance, but now I don’t have a problem with it anymore. And I notice now that I can start typing blindly more and more, which is super cool.

    The OLED screen on the back is a gimmick I rarely use. But I really like that the device sits flat on a surface if you put it into the official case. There’s no camera bump tilting it at an angle, like so many modern smartphones do.

    Be aware that they use old BlackBerry screens, which have been sitting in a warehouse for years. They have great resolution, but some of them started to delaminate at the edges and that looks like stains on your screen. I got lucky and my screen is pretty good, but other people got really messed up screens. Unihertz is not handling those issues well, it seems, only offering a free case or very low discounts.

    And for now, there has only been one small software update. No security updates at all. They released initial software for early reviewers, then one update for the Kickstarter backers and a bugfix. That’s it.

    They have promised one more major Android release, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’ll be their final update, to be honest.

    BluRay Player die mit "Libre"Drive kompatibel sind, sind auch extrem gefragt.

    Ich hab mir ein paar 3D-BluRays für ne Handvoll Euro gekauft, die mit MakeMKV und nem LibreDrive-Laufwerk gerippt und dann mit BD3D2MK3D in stereoskope MKV-Dateien umgewandelt (da liegen beide Bilder in voller Auflösung nebeneinander in einer Datei).

    Und die konnte ich dann mit einer vergleichweise sehr günstigen 120€ VR-Brille (Reverb G2) in einem virtuellen Kino (mit Virtual Home Theater) schauen. An dieser Stelle gebührt großer Dank der Firma Microsoft, die ihre VR-Plattform “Mixed Reality” nach drei Jahren eingestellt und ganz viel Hardware erstmal kurzzeitig in Schrott verwandelt haben - zumindest bis ein Hobby-Entwickler selbst einen Treiber dafür geschrieben und sie wiederbelebt hat. 💪

    Das ist einfach super awesome und sieht besser aus als in meinem lokalen Kino. Und kein Streamingdienst der Welt kann mir das wegnehmen! 🥰
