Yeah, that’s a good description. It’s a variation on this recipe, based on the contents of our fridge.

I’ve just finished making a batch of cheese, bacon, and spring onion pikelets that ended up about three times thicker than regular pancakes, and they’ve already started to disappear …

There’s a small leak in our roof, and I’m hoping that two buckets in the attic space will suffice until we can get a plumber to have a look … 🤞
I’ve only used the GUI interface, and I think it has some UI features that aren’t available in the TUI interface, but you should be able to use both with (mostly? entirely?) the same configuration.
There are various ways to run terminal/shell sessions from within Emacs, and to run shell commands and capture their output. So while I almost exclusively use the command line, I do it all from within the Emacs GUI.
If you happen to use git, you might consider trying magit, an Emacs interface for using git that many people find vastly preferable to using git directly.
@paequ2@lemmy.today “Emacs” will launch a new instance of Emacs, while “Emacs (Client)” will connect to an already running Emacs Server – unless Emacs takes a long time to start up you may not notice a difference.
Doom and Spacemacs are predefined configurations for Emacs that include many additional packages and custom settings, all of which you could manually add to your own Emacs configuration if you had the time and patience. They both include a range of opinionated decisions about what packages to include and how Emacs should look and feel, which may or may not suit you. I don’t use either of them, but if you’re coming from Vim you might find them interesting because they provide a similar modal editing experience.

Yeah 😮💨 … hopefully the kids party next door finished up without too much drama

When my child’s old enough to make friends, I really hope we can avoid talking politics with the friends’ parents 🤞🙏🤐

The school down the road did not have a barbecue, or food of any kind. But I had a nice chat with one of the canvassers while in line.
Here’s hoping the school down the road will have a barbecue going early tomorrow when we go to vote 🤞

I did not know that cheddaring was a thing. Thanks! And yeah, I really like their vintage cheese, it just seemed odd that they didn’t call it cheddar.

I like the Aldi one too, but they carefully label it “vintage cheese” (no mention of cheddar anywhere on the packaging, AFAICT). I guess they’re taking a shortcut that means it can’t be called cheddar? 🤷

Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation, I finally went there this week and was very pleased I did.

I was recommended Brant at Peritum Property by word of mouth around 3 years ago. He offered a reasonable flat fee option, sat us down and walked us through everything, helped us to figure out exactly what we wanted and could reasonably expect within our budget, and looked after everything.

We bought a Tammy sofa bed (but not from this store, I just did a quick search) because it felt like a nice couch and the bed is very comfortable. The cover isn’t removable, so you can’t throw it in the washing machine, though.

That’s awesome, they make such a big difference. Fingers crossed the installation goes smoothly. Can’t wait to get some for our place in … 5-10 years, probably

This week has been hectic, and I only managed ~4 hours sleep last night. I just cracked open a post-work beer and I’m so tired that I almost poured it into my stubbie holder. Thank goodness I only need to reheat last night’s leftovers for dinner, or this night could end in disaster.
Oh wow, that can’t have been a pleasant discovery. I wouldn’t be impressed with that response. Not to mention that surely other things in your fridge would also be going off if that was the case? I think it’s entirely fair to expect a replacement or refund. No way you’re being unreasonable.
We use them semi-regularly and haven’t had any issues. The food arrives on time and someone’s always home to put it in the fridge. Did you have any particular concerns or queries in mind?
Edit: we used to pick up our orders from their store, which also went smoothly, but then we moved inconveniently far away.
ALDI might have some good prepaid and/or plan SIMs. They use the Telstra network so coverage is better than some of the other cheap options.
