3·4 days agoI used Ecosia for a few months last year, but it really struggled with more niche topics and searches in Hungarian. Also it kept re-enabling the AI search every other day, no matter how many times I disabled it. So in the end I switched to noai.duckduckgo.

Also I’m vaguely pissed that Musk considers Iain Banks his favourite author while managing to completely misunderstand the Culture’s values. He even named his droneships after characters from the books 🤢

3·9 days agoGreater stability of this feature, maybe?
Lemmy may have significantly fewer features but in many ways it comes across as being significantly more polished .
Tbh that’s not surprising, looking at PieFed’s development priorities 😅 (emphasis mine)

4·10 days agoName them please, I’m desperate for ideas here.
Not sure if these are already addressed in PyLova, but some of my PieFed pain points are the notification page UI (namely the collapsed content previews and unintuitive mark as read buttons), and the lack of proper support for emoji (no shortcode suggestions like Lemmy/GitHub/etc. has, and the manual picker is unsearchable and missing many newer ones).

1·10 days agoNot enforced by my work, but Photoshop is honestly the least painful to replace. I’m having a lot more trouble finding fully featured alternative to InDesign and Illustrator. Scribus looks pretty rough and Inkscape has an unintuitive UI and no proper CMYK support.

Yeah, it’s definitely YMMV. Also I read that minoxidil is only good for hair loss in the back, not for receding hairline. I was using it for almost a decade before I switched to a buzz cut, then shaved it all off. Unfortunately my hair loss was primarily in the front, so I’m not sure minoxidil ever did much.
(Fellow trans person btw, though I haven’t tried to use it before testosterone started kicking my hairline the way my genetics were pointing 😅️)
