Everything you said is why I created Ruinstars. We had the exact same headaches and gripes with KT. Games are under 45 min, PvP or PvE and coop play, campaign system, squad builder + game tracker, and 100% free + open-source.

collapse@lemmy.zip•How Solar-Powered Farming Is Pushing Pakistan Towards Water Catastrophe
3·7 months agoArticle title seems disingenuous according to this paragraph, but still interesting:
The solar boom has coincided with the rapid depletion of water tables in Pakistan’s most populous province, according to previously unreported Punjab water authority documents viewed by Reuters. The documents did not pinpoint any cause.
As far as i can tell, it depends where your thumb is when you scroll up/down.
If you scroll down with your thumb on the short description, it scrolls the content of the text within its box down one line, then scrolls the list of articles. That’s the cutoff you’re seeing.

Something about bubbling events maybe?

3DPrinting@lemmy.world•Printing minis on an FDM printerEnglish
2·10 months agoThat looks incredible for FDM! I’ve tried a few times but my Ender can only do .2mm layer height at best.
But I’ve been following this YouTuber’s efforts and he gets really good results on FDM and has pointers, settings, tools, and supports that might help you get even better results (if you haven’t seen these already):

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do y'all recommend for new dishwashers?
221·11 months agoI got a Bosch last year, simple setup, no IoT bullshit, just works, quiet. For what it’s worth, the guy who installed it told me “I install new dishwashers and remove old ones in the process all the time. I’ve never had to remove a Bosch dishwasher”.

[Migrated, see pinned post] Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•Steam deck or micro ATX or looong HDMI cord?English
6·11 months agoNo, they’re not sold anymore. But the RaspPi acts just like the original hardware once the software is installed and configured. If you like tinkering, it’s a nice afternoon project. And since Pis are so versatile, it opens up a bunch of possibilities for other projects (I recommend a PiHole for example) even if this application doesn’t fit your needs.

20·11 months agoIf it helps, there’s also option D: RaspberryPi with Steam Link. Cheap, functional, and flexible.
That’s what I set up at home and it’s working great. If you play with a controller, note that some games work better than others or have weird requirements to get the controller to work (e.g. for Space Marine 2 I have to keep a wired controller plugged into my main tower for the Steam link wireless controller to work).
RaspPi also gives you the opportunity to set up and play old-school emulated games if that’s interesting to you.
You might like Vox Machina (fully animated) or give Dimension 20 a shot.

I ordered a couple from frontline gaming, really nice quality and the right size. They’re in the US but I’m sure they’d ship to Canada.

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time… like tears in rain… Time to die.
This is super dope, what a fantastic idea and good execution. Well done!

I’ll take the opportunity to plug [(https://ktdash.app)], where you can browse all factions and teams, manage your rosters, add photos of your operatives, and use the dashboard to track operative orders/activations/wounds,and TP/VP/CP!

Buildapc@lemmy.world•Gaming/development/music production rig - Sanity check and comments please!
1·3 years agoOh wow, thanks! I’ll take a look at all that. I prefer a smaller case, but if I’m going to do incremental upgrades in the future this makes sense. Also clearly better components, and I didn’t consider fans at all when putting mine together. Thanks again!

Buildapc@lemmy.world•Gaming/development/music production rig - Sanity check and comments please!
3·3 years agoThat’s exactly the kind of advice I was looking for, thanks! I’ve built machines before, I just get lost in the compatibility of MBs and components so I’m grateful for the pointers. Also worried about room in the box, but I think I have it right. Just need to triple check the dimensions of the GPU and that the case has space for two 2.5" SSDs.

I see. But I think you’ll run into the issue that the team rules are also how they put variety in the game. The core rules themselves are pretty simple, or at least approachable. The operatives’ stats and their weapon stats are actually fairly standard across teams (there’s really only 5-6 archetypes of operatives and weapons), so faction rules and abilities are how they differentiate the teams and make an aeldar feel like and aeldar on the table.
You could choose to play with one of the more streamlined teams (e.g. Angels of Death) and just proxy your minis in but I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for either.
I think you’re stuck with trying to house-rule the team rules which could remove or reduce that complexity, and keep the flavor/variety. But doing that well would be difficult, especially finding the equilibrium between simple rules and “strength” of those rules.
