I’m so glad that I haven’t met a single person who’d say that. Cause it seems so specific, almost nonexistent.

11·7 days agoI see this issue similar to music industry.
Musicians would complain that modern mainstream music is crap and is ruining good music for years. Major Labels would say “fuck you, we do what we want” to them. Music enjoyers would support musicians. But vast majority of listeners wouldnt care about what they are listening to.
Now changing some words around:
Technicians/Programmers would complain that AI/LLM is crap and is ruining internet/peoples minds for years. Big Tech would say “fuck you, we do what we want” to them. Power users would support technicians/programmers. But vast majority of normie users wouldn’t care about what they utilize/consume online.
Most of humanity doesnt care.
Surprises me cause I bet decent men won’t have problems with a condom while most substandard men would. No one talks about decent men as much as ones that are bad. Also, if you hear many speak about these men, maybe their preference in men is flawed?

7·7 days agoCCTV is not panacea from abuse of power, unfortunately. They have plenty of CCTV in Russia and yet there are still cases of power-tripping politicians/oligarchs/nepobabies. As per usual, video evidence is either disregarded or tucked away from society’s eyes. Doubt heavy surveillance would do much for US or any country where law is not applied to everyone.

2·7 days agoOn Windows MPC-HC is my choice of video player. On linux you got VLC which probably has downmixing.
I bet this stems from streaming movies on something like myflixer where there is no option to switch from 5.1 to 2.0 and this becomes a huge PITA.
Also, for Jellyfin users, there is a few downsampling options in the dashboard.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Where do you draw the line regarding windows?English
3·7 days agoI dualboot. I run windows whenever I want to use a certain software that is not supported on linux. Other than that, my daily routine and 99% of the games I play/wish to play run on Linux.
Now my main SSD runs Window11 and external one runs Bazzite. Once I finish ripping DVDs/Blurays I got from a friend, I will try to switch OS’es places.

5·8 days agoCheap amps work bad with mid/high-end speakers. Cable should be shielded. Amp should be grounded well. If speakers have balanced inputs (TRS - tip, ring sleeve), I suggest to use a balanced cable. If it just TS (tip/sleeve) or RCA, then it is not balanced and it doesn’t matter what cables you will use. Your amp is most likely the culprit.

1·8 days agoUpdoot to that! When I am checking for technical solutions or suggestions on the internet, Lemmy has barely any info while Reddit very often has the answer I need. But when it comes to “your typical social media site”, Reddit sucks donkey balls in that while Lemmy gives me nice small community vibes. Reddit is still good as long as you dont step into mainstream subs shit.
It only picked up buzz at season 3. Almost nobody who did watch full series did start with s1 on release.
Imo, Breaking Bad is worth it. It kept being engaging from start to finish and haven’t overstayed its welcome like some other mainstream shows.

Couldn’t they widen driveway or something? Or Park somewhere near where parking is allowed?

54·8 days agoEven if this is a very specific setup, I still think Meshstatic could be used as an external internet pretty much anywhere if there are enough nodes scattered around. Could be like a LAN network. Also, probably would be used by bad actors too.
