The Fermi Paradox is based on our understanding of physics, largely based in a 3 dimensional universe/reality. If these things are inter-dimensional, do those same rules apply?

What if physical distance, as we perceive it, is something unique to us as beings that perceive and navigate the universe in only 3 dimensions?

I agree with you, but I don’t think empathy = sympathy, and one can call out hatred without being hateful. Wishing death on others only steepens the divide.

Why not? It costs you nothing to be empathetic of others, regardless of their misdeeds. We’ve gotta do better if we’re going to make it as a society/species.

You’re completely right, and FWIW, I agree. Playing devil’s advocate though, what’s the alternative? Sit around and hope for the best?

The world has every right to question Sam Altman/OpenAI’s motives, but damn if they aren’t the most vocal champions of actually trying to do something about this, before it’s a colossal problem of unfathomable proportions.

I don’t know what the right call is here (does anyone, truly?), but I’m happy to see someone put real resources towards this and give it a sincere shot.

Or something very close to it! Crazy to think that GPT-4 is only 32k, and makes you wonder what we’re going to have at our fingertips 3-5 years from now…

Google’s DeepMind was able to teach itself Indonesian without being directly trained on how to do so. Ancient Sumerian doesn’t seem too far fetched, all things considered!
