2·2 years agoThey have changed the order of sprint weekend for 2024. No confirmation on if they will move parc ferme but seems more doable now with the main quali taking place after the sprint race

Formula 1@lemmy.world•8 rule changes you need to know for the 2024 F1 season
7·2 years agoThink the biggest issue with sprint for me was the parc ferme happening after one practice session. I think they should try letting teams change the setup based on data gathered in the sprint

Formula 1@lemmy.world•Mercedes and Aston Martin to have new gearboxes in 2024
3·2 years agoFrom early in the season:
“ The Mercedes specification is bulkier in the area closest to the floor, which limits airflow through the AMR23’s diffuser. This area is designed for a car with ultra-compact bodywork like the W14, as seen with the Mercedes ‘zeropods.’
Having a less efficient diffuser means the AMR23 needs more rear wing to compensate, which generates more drag.”

Technology@lemmy.world•Tesla recalls 120,000 vehicles over potentially faulty doors that could open in a crashEnglish
161·2 years agoI think what makes it a recall is that the NHTSA points out a fault and requires the manufacturer to fix it. It just happens that Tesla has the ability to use OTA updates. So not sure there is a difference in severity just because a fix is software.
But it does raise the question for me if it’s a simple software fix why did Tesla wait for the NHTSA? Don’t they have tons of live diagnostic data from their cars?

I think you are right. And the OP look like they are in Germany where they are testing these plans. https://www.theverge.com/2024/10/17/24272930/youtube-cheaper-premium-lite-subscription-limited-ads
