Comic Strips@lemmy.world•The Next Version of WINDOWS - CatTrigger
15·3 months agoIt’s the Adobe Creative Suite, I have to use it for my job. Many warriors have valiantly fought to try to get Photoshop to teeter onto WINE, but I have yet to see anyone get the entire suite into a stable state. There is that AENux thing that someone is trying to do for After Effects, but it’s still in super early stages… done by one developer for probably Adobe’s most resource demanding app.
All the other apps I rely on can either run on WINE or have their Native Versions. I’m tied to either Windows or Mac for my main desktop until then.

Sorry about the miscommunication, I missed the message you sent. I’m still new to the platform and will do my best to post things appropriate for your community from now on :)
Thank you! I’m still pretty new to lemmy, but have definitely taken a liking to it! :D
All good, no worries. I’ll post a different comic on there when I’m able. :)
They got into contact with me. It’s the content of the comic.
No worries, I’ll post in that community something different next time.
I actually tried to post there, twice. Seems it gets removed each time. Not sure if I’m doing anything wrong there.
[EDIT]
I think it was due to content in the comic. Oh well. :)

I’m not arguing that there’s isn’t better alternatives that CAN run on Linux for most of Adobe’s apps (Inkscape has gotten really good, and I love Krita), but its what the industry has settled for their standard.
But on top of that, since I work a ton in After Effects, there hasn’t really been a real alternative to it. You can have Blender do some of the things in it, and Davinci in some other things, but its a bloated beast of mixed use-cases all in one fancy app that nobody has really attempted to replicate.
