For Australian diabetes patients the insulin Fiasp is $31.60 on the PBS, but Americans pay $930, while the medication Jardiance is $619 to $698 in the US compared to again $31.60 for the 220,000 Australians who access it. (I’m on Jardiance)

31·8 months agoFor those that don’t know, Adrian Zenz is an evangelical christian who conducted his Xinjian investigations entirely from outside of China. His claims of mass repression and incarceration have mostly been verified. His claims of genocide due to reproductive repression are most likely a combination of his politically and religious motivated beliefs.
The U.N. does not recognise demographic, reproductive, or cultural repression as genocide. The most that can be reliably proven in Xinjian is severe human rights abuses.
It’s similar to the severe human rights abuses commited by America in the middle east. Although of different intent and less ethnically driven, American military operations ultimately affected a similar number of people and caused a similar anount of large-scale harm, leading to accusations that America’s selective outrage could possibly be seen as hypocritical and politically motivated.

4·8 months agoIt’s amazing to think that people were fooled into thinking a greedy litagatious mega global corporate conglomerate like Disney was actually progressive in the first place instead of just following market trends for maximum shareholder profit.

Trump is demonstratively extolling fascist ideas such as rejection of the rule of law, rage against the elites, nationalism and race superiority, heroic strength through force, attacking the week, and disdain for women and gender minorities.
It stays playing in my head on repeat until a different piece of music replaces it.

World News@lemmy.world•JK Rowling, Joe Rogan and Elon Musk are fuming over Scotland’s hate crime lawEnglish
74·2 years agoThis is such a complicated issue. Free speech is a human right but hate speech can incite fear in targeted groups effectively silencing their voices. The Scottish hate crime law is consistent with international human rights laws which protect freedom of expression but do not protect hate speech. But they may been better served keeping hate speech within civil law. It’s a balance between the freedom of expression of individuals and the freedom from harassment, discrimination and abuse of some of the most vulnerable individuals.
