  • I believe this is a clear case of projection…

Because of course, the Country that has an economic bubble, and in that bubble, there’s “just a few” that are very Pro AI-Police and AI-Military, and one of those being the one where the CEO wished he could have a drone with “fent–yl laced urine” to rain on anyone who “messes with” them… is kinda funny, don’t you think?

I could go on, but I assume this isn’t news to anyone, specially if they follow money trails.

  • Sailfish is decent, but yes, tied to the company. Ubuntu Touch and Sailfish suffer from the same problem, limited app repositories, excluding waydroid, I mean linux software, but Ubuntu Touch at least has Libertine Containers with PPA support…

PostmartketOS, Mobian, PocketBlue all use mainline kernels, so that might limit your options, but have access to packaged and Flathub! (pmOS is still better for device comparability)

There are more options, niche as they may seem… Like I was not aware of OpenSUSE mobile, NixOS for phones, were actually a thing. I had heard of Arch mobile, thanks to Arch ARM, but again, not a lot of documentation that I’ve seen

Also I’d check check out !linuxphones@lemmy.ca

  • I already bought one from Murena, but that was a couple of days before this post. – That said. I’m sure this will make things even more accessible for those who just wanna jump into linux but are afraid of the whole installation process (If you already have one, try the UBPorts insaller) – I cannot thank you enough for the work you’ve done, and congrats on the title upgrade!! It’s more than earned. – Technically, that’d also make the Fairphone 6 having two official Linux Kernel Maintainers…right?

  • Holy Smokes… All during the Mercury Retrograde no less… This is all nothing short of genuinely amazing!! First it was GPS, then NFC, then Audio (with Microphone) and now Calls? Please do correct me but, by the PMOS Graph, that’d just leave the Camera and the IMU left??

All jokes aside, my fp4 suddenly started dying on me and ended up ordering a fp6, so I’ll gladly run some tests! If you have any particular place you’d like us to send feedback or bug reports, please do let me know!

EDIT: Also the lack of Emergency Calls (or at least that’s what it says on the imsd repo) is a bit unfortunate, but, iirc, Emergency Calls work on a different band or system, regardless of SIM. So in a way, it’s also not too surprising, at least for me.
