Net zero is antithetical to the existence of fossil fuel companies, save for some amount of natural gas in niche scenarios & space exploration. Carbon offsetting will be greenwashed just like the recycling push of the 2000s. So will simultaneous carbon sequestering. This reads like a tabloid from the 50s saying smoking isn’t bad for you.

The amazing part to me is just how surprised liberals are that any of this is happening. We have never had an administration, good or bad, that is this coordinated and effective and unified while also having control of all branches of government. When the dems had control of the house and senate in 2010, he didn’t have the unity or control over the party like Trump has over the GOP now, and the supreme court was against him too.

Just think of what could have been if the tables were turned. What if the dems weren’t so shitty and passive? What if they actually preached for working class politics, and acted on popular policies. What if they actually codified abortion rights? What if they were an actual left wing party, and didn’t participate in and support anti-left wing and anti-working class propaganda for 70 years? Where would we be if a real left wing party had this much power?

That’s exactly right. These thing were already bought, paid for, installed, and being used. This is just a fuck-you to anyone who cares about the environment. Why? Because if you care about the environment you probably don’t support Trump.

Conservatives will bill the increased stability as a win for Trump and his increase in natural gas production & pipelines.

Yeah, we’re largely past the arguments about the economics of global warming and should be well into the discussions on what is technically feasible. Not many costs are too great at this point.
