help-circle

  • Honestly, I’m not sure I have an answer to that… it doesn’t do anything unique, but it does a lot of things really well.

Config is json driven (UI just updates a json file, so you can do more advanced things in the config that the UI doesn’t allow), it has the ability to have multiple types of tabs, i.e, a powershell tab, git tab, WSL tab, etc. It’s fast and not resource intensive. It’s constantly updated. It’s open source with a clear roadmap. Split panes is handled fairly well.

I personally really enjoy Ctrl+c being context sensitive. If I highlight something it copies, if I hit it at the prompt, it will behave like it does in Linux.

I don’t feel like I can sell anyone on one feature, it’s just stable, updated frequently/has good support, and is a great experience (so don’t complain about it). When I’m using something else, there is always some feature I wish it had that Terminal does have.

  • Yeah, I really enjoy going the new game plus route for this. Having your whole party available to you with their progress carrying over, having the ability to get the characters in your party that you couldn’t get due to lack of conviction points, seeing your conviction points, seeing your path traveled, having your encampment available from the start, and just experiencing the story from different paths is all the reasons to do it.

It would be difficult to start on hard mode, but I would just grind for the moves and characters I know work. Eredor’s provoke, Frederica’s burning chains, Julio’s TP grant move, etc. Really it would just be an optimized run, which I think is less fun (more repetitive) than continuing to level up characters and experiencing their full kits. But to each their own.

  • So by the time the 2nd play through is over, you are maxed out in level for the main people you play. So the level grinding you mentioned isn’t really there. Maybe some gold grinding to get further in the skill tree, but that should be limited given my play through count. Unless you really want to get everyone to max level, but that is simple, as doing any move will raise your level by one.

I did the Frederica ending first. It was idealistic. Then Roland’s… which was my least favorite. Then Benedict’s which was good. But each have their own drawbacks, thus, the golden ending. I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

At this point I am stuck on the first level. It’s very difficult, and is apparently one of the hardest missions in the game on hard, new game plus. On normal new game plus, it was still easy. Hopefully I can get through it on hard, but the strategies seem to involve breaking the AI and using Quietus, which I hadn’t needed to do before this. We’ll see if I can make it work.

  • This is solid if you’re somewhat technical. I think it could be simplified with an overview at the beginning.

    • Pick a desktop environment for testing and download the iso
    • Format USB
    • burn iso
    • boot to usb
    • test, repeat if necessary
    • dual boot
    • non dual boot
    • MS equivalent programs

I feel like the focus jumps around. If they have already made the decision, no reason to list replacement programs.

Honestly, you might get some better results if you dropped it into AI and asked for a summary/less technical versions of what you wrote. Or it could just make you laugh.

  • I just replaced the left joystick last night and it didn’t even dawn on me to get replacement screws. I did buy a repair kit, which had the tweezers, spudgers and the necessary screw drivers, all of which came in handy. I really wish you would have posted this 12 hours sooner, though replacing the triwings would be fairly easy.

It is super nice to have a guilikit hall effect stick. I didn’t touch the right one for now, as I wanted to make sure the left one was working given a few of the Amazon reviews. But so far, so good.

  • As someone that works in QA, yeah, they needed something to catch this. I saw someone mention somewhere without a source that they missed it as all test machines have their full suite of software installed. In that scenario, the computer wasn’t affected. So for QA it seems their labs might need to be more in tune with the user base.

However, the fact that they are able to push this so quickly worldwide seems like a big process issue. I get 0 day issues and that is how they justify it. But deploy to a small subset of customers before going global seems more reasonable.
