No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do you maintain a phone number in different countries on the long-run ?
2·20 days agoYou’re right, a stable number is pretty important, and since said country allows me to buy some things for a cheaper price (namely online services), I agree it’s only fair to pay for a reliable eSIM. I just didn’t know if there was a more obvious way, but reading the coments, this seems like the go-to !
Thanks for the advice.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do you maintain a phone number in different countries on the long-run ?
2·20 days agoThanks for the recommendation, if anyone is interested, I checked and indeed their cheapest plan goes for 18,49€ per month, and covers both countries (Latin America package), or 11,49€/month for Colombia and 8,99€ for Brazil, for a combined total of 20,48€. So I’ll probably go with the Regional package if I choose the e-sim route.
I’ll check later with a VPN to see if its cheaper in local currency

3·20 days agoThat sounds perfect, did you buy the prepaid SIM when you were over there or did you manage to get it shipped to where you live ? And do you recommend the e-sim provider you have ?

10·21 days agoHi, yeah sorry I thought since this is a universal problem it wouldn’t matter too much, but I need the remote number for Brazil and Colombia, while I reside in the EU
What a difference in time perception we have, it’s wild, cause the early 2010’s was full on PS3 and late-early YouTube era for me. I think everyone I knew around me already was pretty connected to the internet. But yeah 10 years before that, I could see your grandparents’ situation being commonplace. Glad you had that time to discover all this awesome technology !

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Using a NAS to redirect to another NAS for streaming ?
1·1 month agoOh true, merging them together in a Tailscale network kinda makes sense, I hadn’t thought of that thank you

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Using a NAS to redirect to another NAS for streaming ?
1·1 month agoThanks, I’ll give Netbird a try on my server A for routing incoming traffic from friends & family, and for my original issue I think it’s easier if I use an android tv adapter/device like the other commenter said

Buy European@feddit.uk•LiberaPay will probably accept Wero payments
8·1 month agoYeah I saw that in one of the Git issues but I didn’t understand. Is it like a double processing ? You pay fees to Wero and then to Stripe ?

1·1 month agoYou’re right, this makes the most sense and with little headaches. I didn’t go with it at first cause I didn’t know there was an alternative to Amazon/Google/Xiaomi devices to access Android TV, so thank you for the Nvidia Shield recommendation, I’ll check it out (and yes I know Android TV is Google, but it’s for a very occasional use, so I’ll give up a bit of privacy just for this)

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I am someone who works out daily and sweats a lot. Just doing laundry doesn't seem to adequately clean the underarms of my shirts. What are some ways to clean these areas of my clothing better?
1·1 month agoOh wow I had no idea about the persisting bacteria (and the need to spray more frequently at first), I naively thought that soap completely cleanses the area and that new bacteria would come from inside the pores or something. Have you noticed any side effects of using the alcohol ? Like drier skin or something (I know strange question regarding an area that’s constantly wet lol)
In any case thanks for the advice, have a wonderful day !

2·1 month agoQuick question about isopropyl alcohol : how do you apply it uniformly to your armpit ? With a cloth ? Does it need to be drenched ? Or just scoop it with your hand ? Or with a water spray ? And how long does it last before you need to reapply ?
Single player games are so great, but it does get lonely sometimes. There’s a whole genre that needs to be invented : multiplayer city-builders. For instance in Going Medieval it would be dope to be able to visit other players’ settlements for trade or raids on your server

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a big internal debate within a fandom or hobby you are a part of that outsiders probably wouldn't care about?
51·3 months agoFr, I bought the entire Halo collection once on sale on Steam thinking “great, I’ll finally be able to finish what I started 20 years ago”, and found out you need a M$ account to play, and you can’t even make up a bullshit one, they NEED your phone number

Buy European@feddit.uk•Does anyone know a bank which offers Wero without app?
2·5 months agoI think the werotracker website tells you which banks need you to use the dedicated app, and which you can just do it from inside your own bank’s app, or account. Mine is not gonna be very helpful, it’s a small French bank that doesn’t have offices outside of the country. Did you find any since you posted ?
Pipas66@lemmy.dbzer0.comtoTranslators@lemmy.ca•[fr > en] I can't make sense of the title of the article
2·5 months agoAlso what’s confusing here to me as a native is that Québec has this law/tendency to frenchify everything. So, for instance in France the name of the nation would’ve been written as “Cree” to follow the English standard, since most of our mentions of them come from English literature. But I admit Québec is right on that one
Pipas66@lemmy.dbzer0.comtoTranslators@lemmy.ca•[fr > en] I can't make sense of the title of the article
2·5 months agoYou’re right that’s what we were taught in school : when using the noun, you’d capitalize it : (e.g. a Spaniard, an English, a Frenchman, etc…), but as an adjective you don’t (a spanish boat, an english breakfast, a french movie, etc…)

Getting a physical SIM fr said country is gonna be the cheapest and most efficient solution fore cause my phone doesn’t do e-SIM, so yeah I’ll try to order it directly here if they allow it, and else I’ll ask for a family member to ship it to us ! Thanks for the help
