In Futurama, there is one episode with a robot court. The robot judge has a meltdown and somebody says “try Ctrl+Alt+Del”. The official German audio dub totally didn’t get the joke and it said “versuch die kontrollierte Alternativlöschung” which would translate to “try the controlled alternative deletion”. ??

Breezy is such a treasure. Logging the network activity on any typical mainstream weather app really gives you the chills. I finally found this privacy-respecting and really beautifully designed app and I am so glad it exists.

Mein Projekt war es, Code zur Nextcloud Android App beizusteuern. Nutze ich mehrmals täglich und daher ist es maximal berreichernd, dort Kleinigkeiten zu verbessern.

Ich empfehle gerne Nextcloud. Kann man selbst hosten, lokal im Heimnetz oder auf einem gemieteten Server. Wenn du es ins Internet hängen willst und bereit bist, ein wenig Autonomie abzugeben, dann miete eine sogenannte Managed Nextcloud, z.B. Hetzner Storage Share. Null Installationsaufwand, nahezu Null Wartungsaufwand und deutlich niedrigere Kosten pro Terabyte, als wenn du einen “all purpose” Server buchst um darauf selbst Nextcloud zu hosten.

Korrekt, das fehlende Webinterface ist der Dealbreaker für mich 🙁.

Interessanterweise habe ich das inverse Problem: Meine Bank hat Wero nicht integriert, sondern ich muss zwingend die Wero App installieren.

Die ist aber ein NO-GO für mich, weil sie Zugriff auf die Transaktionen des Bankkonto(!) nimmt, wie in den Datenschutzbestimmungen steht und mir der Wero Datenschutzbeauftragte auch auf Anfrage bestätigt hat: https://feddit.org/post/18771710/9164751

Eigentlich müsste man das eskalieren, denn die Wero FAQ sagt eindeutig das Gegenteil. Und es gibt auch überhaupt keinen Grund für diesen Datenabfluss. Ich finde das deutlich invasiver als PayPal.

@Siegbaert@discuss.tchncs.de Ich nutze die App auf Android (sowohl mit, als auch ohne Google Play Services) und habe sie auch auf iOS ausprobiert. Läuft überall gleich gut.

Der App fehlen noch einige Funktionen, z.B. NoGo Areas und Zeitpläne. Beides soll aber im nächsten Release drin sein. Bis dahin habe ich mir meine NoGo Area so gebastelt, dass ich sie als extra Raum “ausgeschnitten” habe und bei der raum-weisen Reinigung nicht auswähle.

Support ist auch sehr reaktiv. Daher sehe ich viel Potential drin.

Ich habe mir den Bosch Spotless Max (ohne Kamera) zugelegt, da er nach langer Wartezeit das erste Produkt war, was folgende Anforderungen erfüllt:

• Saugen & Wischen
• Mit Full Service Station (Staub und Wasser)
• Kein eingebautes Mikrofon
• Keine eingebaute Kamera
• Europäischer Hersteller
  • Diese Anforderung war dann immer der Dealbreaker. Der Bosch Spotless basiert zwar auf Ecovacs Hardware (Chinesischer Hersteller), aber die Cloudanbindung und Mobile App wird von Bosch (bzw. BSH) betrieben.
• Kein App-Zwang
  • Man kann natürlich viele Funktionalitäten nur mit App benutzen (Reinigung ausgewählter Räume, Wechseln des Reinigungsmodus, etc…), aber prinzipiell kann man auch ohne Einrichtung der App die Reinigung starten.

Wero’s Data Processing Officer confirmed via email that they DO access the bank account:

We can confirm that the term “payment account” in our Privacy Policy refers to the bank account that you connect to Wero. This is the official legal term used in the applicable EU regulations.

When using the Wero standalone app, Wero may access both:

• the balance of the enrolled account; and

-the transaction history of that account for the past 90 days.

The lack of clarity in the FAQ materials likely stems from the fact that Wero is offered under two different models, depending on the bank:

Standalone app, operated by EPI Company SE (Wero is its trade name), acting as an authorised AISP and Payment Initiation Service Provider. In this case, Wero accesses the account balance and transaction history to display them in the app.

Integration into the bank’s mobile app, where Wero is provided only as a technical module. In this case, Wero does not access the account information described above, as this remains fully within the control of the bank.

Thank you for diving deeper into this topic. I see how you come to your conclusion - that would be a relief. However, if payment account is the Wero account, why do they need to store the “type of payment account” (they are not stating “type of payment source”).

Again, it is not 100% certain, but answering about “account balance” when being asked about bank access does sound like my bank account balance. But it could also be the Wero account balance (if there is such a thing?)

Maybe I am hearing the grass growing here. I do wish Wero to be a success, but it does feel more intermingled with the internals of my bank account than I’d like it to be
