It’s to do with licensing fees. Just hosting a show carries a cost for the streamer, and if it isn’t driving growth or retaining customers enough to justify that cost, it’s going to get cut. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/05/29/streaming-services-remove-movies-shows-heres-why.html

Movies and TV Shows@lemmy.film•Streaming Shocker: Warner Bros. Discovery In Talks To License HBO Original Series To Netflix
3·3 years agoSomething like a syndication model makes a lot of sense. Certainly more sense than every studio or legacy network trying to operate its own streamer. I also see a lot of potential in FAST services like Pluto, Freevee, and Tubi. Locking old content behind a premium-priced ad-free streamer isn’t necessary.

6·3 years agoThat’s my problem, actually. I very much do not want music bundled with ad-free YouTube. I’d pay a reasonable price for an unbundled version, but the Premium family plan is more than the top-tier Netflix or Max subscription.

He’s term-limited anyway. Just hope he doesn’t pave the way for Le Pen or some other out and out fascist to take over for him.
