A rapid collapse of Ukrainian troops would be good if Ukraine was allowed to negotiate and if Putin didn’t (for good reason) believe that he is a in a good position now.

The US killing that ceasefire deal at the very start of the war was terrible for Ukraine. Now the government is hunting down old people and disabled people to be cannon fodder on the front lines. And if the war somehow ends, the US will own 100% of the remaining Ukrainian territory and industry.

When the libs support something (not often, but aid to Ukraine is a good example), there must be a rush to pass it. When they don’t support something, they act like politicians live in a vacuum outside of time. Oh, transgender laws are just what they are, those are immovable. Oh, Medicare For All wouldn’t pass instantly if Sanders won in 2016, therefore we must vote for people who oppose M4A to begin with. Imagine if Republicans acted that way. Oh, GW Bush won’t be able to kill Roe v. Wade if he wins in 2000, therefore the logical conclusion is to vote for Al Gore.

Afghanistan wasn’t even really pro-USSR, they were just neutral in the cold war and that was enough for the US to start weekly deliveries of grenade launchers to what we now know as Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

When the Dem leadership started embracing Trump’s immigration policies, they took a huge chunk of their liberal base with them. First, it was fascist to support Trump’s policies and only conservatives supported them. Now, libs joined them because they have zero principles, they can’t even keep up the pretense of opposing policies that they themselves labeled fascist barely 4 years ago.

Already is on foreign policy. Domestically, it just isn’t perfectly clear yet who the “undesirable groups” will be, because this must be something that both parties agree on and there will be some small disagreements.

I think that they would like to win, but don’t know what is broadly popular and are constrained by the donors and by wanting to turn the Dem party into the 2006-era GW Bush Republican party.

Obviously you can do all that and still run a good campaign by just lying about it, like Obama for example. A Dem party with better PR would still adopt all the Liz/Dick Cheney policy positions, but wouldn’t constantly talk about how much they love them.

Also, there are a bunch of consultants who will get paid either way, those people probably don’t care about winning at all.

Maybe this is just because of the weird translation, but I’ve seen this a lot. Rights aren’t inherent to humans, they come from the state. And if Palestinians don’t have a state to protect them, or if they live in a state (Israel) that doesn’t want to protect them, we can just kill them all.
