What I have found to work with me is having a structured thing I write down everyday. For me it is 3 things I’m grateful for. I may write more but I always include at least that. I also found it helpful that I have someone to share it with every day and she shares hers with me. (Just the gratitude piece not the whole journal entry usually). Then we start up a conversation on those things. I now look forward to it and have been doing that for about two years now. Fun pens also help. Especially a fountain pen which you want to use everyday so the stupid thing does not dry out and get clogged.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your suggestions and techniques for studying effectively?
1·7 个月前Your brain stores different information different places. So read the information, hand write the information, say the information out loud, put the information in your own words, make it colorful, draw it, etc. Gives you more that one area to recall the information in your brain. Also, repetition. Don’t just store it once and hope you remember it.
I second the EMDR. Either that or TF-CBT. They are the flagship therapies for trauma and have real evidence they work.

11·9 个月前It was a different nuclear disaster in America. Not as bad as Chernobyl
What about trying a pressure vest? Like a thunder jacket, dog anxiety vest, thunder shirt, that kind of thing. The pressure is supposed to calm dogs nerves. You could also talk to the vet who could prescribe medication for her.

5·2 年前I wouldn’t say this is quite true. I live in a rural area and I need to connect to the Internet using my phone’s hotspot for work. I have a surprisingly large number of homes I go into that I can’t get enough of a cell signal with Verizon to make this work. It causes me no end of headaches.
Therapist. I’m not very techy at all.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What movie scared you shitless when you were a child?
6·3 年前Little shop of horrors (the musical). I was maybe 5 when I saw it. I was terrified of plants for a while afterwards, which was a problem because I lived on a farm.

Somedays are harder than others. The other day I was grateful to have gotten pushed out of the ditch, grateful I got pushed out of a client’s driveway and grateful I technically did not hit the deer. It was a difficult day to be grateful for as it was so stressful. I also enjoy a good scented ink or a nice nontraditional ink color.
