I’ve done lots of carpentry and building and renovating over the years.

In a lot of instances, I’d fix something believing that it was temporary and that I would get around to fixing it properly some other time.

My entire life is now surrounded by temporary fixes … some of which do get exchanged for better permanent fixes but many more sitting their looking at me day in and day out reminding me of that half finished job.

I find the thought funny that the guy who made this door a thousand years ago may have built it thinking it was just going to hold for a short time while he figured out a better solution … only to put up with it for decades until he was too old to do anything about it any more and then just died … and everyone else after thinking that the work was finished.

The carpenter who made this a thousand years ago probably complained that some part of the door didn’t line up properly and that if they had more time, they could have done a better job.

It’s the same as religions … and it all boils down to sales and salesmanship and marketing.

I know lots of charismatic people who could talk to you endlessly about bullshit and get you buy a used car and make you believe that it’s the best purchase for your situation … and they’ll make you believe that they are your best friend in the world.

Those same people are the same individuals that can make you believe all sorts of things … things like you should give them money in order to make the world a better place. Then they go on to convince other people to do the same.

You could say that their biggest skill is that they are salesmen but that’s only half the problem. The other half of the problem is that these sales people also attract the dumbest people. The combination of moderately capable salespeople and an extremely dumb community of people creates a group of individuals that can give one person a lot of power … then it creates a snowball effect where the small community attracts more dumb people and the community grows giving the one dumb idiot that started the whole thing more and more power.

The dumb idiot leader built their power and prestige on the stupidity of a mass of people. The more dumb illiterate and ignorant people you have in the world … the more likely this scenario will occur.

I hear tulips are a better investment

Just don’t go near them, I don’t see any anti static dryer sheets … the spark they’d throw would probably be the size of a lighting bolt.

The biggest problem is not exactly him … it’s the same problem with Trump … it’s the legions of mindless stupid people that follow them.

Can’t wait to see the part where Pete Hegseth is crawling around in the heat of battle and you ask him to pass a gun but he can’t understand and instead smiles like an idiot as he throws you a couple of billiard balls.

We had a chance to visit Laos a few years ago and we went to Luang Prabang … the only thing missing from this image is the feeling of standing in extreme sweltering plus 40 degree celcius heat
