Better to have that sign up, I guess, than to have a corpse rolled through your lobby.

How can I get this motherfucker to stop showing up in my feeds? I have him and all his subs blocked, and he still wriggles into my life.

Science@kbin.social•Fertilizing the oceans with iron could help remove a gigaton of carbon dioxide per year
3·3 years agoI’m not playing defense for anyone. I’m recognizing that deconstructing the corporate money-making machine will take longer than we have to fix the more immediate problem of killing off our biosphere, so working with the system, broken as it is, may be the only way forward.

Honestly, that’s what’s holding us back. Make climate repair profitable, and the climate will be fixed inside of a decade.

Science@kbin.social•Cow poop emits climate-warming methane. Adding red algae may help
6·3 years agoBelieve it or not, it’s a laudable goal. Cow feces is responsible for about 40% (yes, really) of methane production worldwide, and methane is several times more impactful as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. I called bullshit (heh) the first time I heard these stats, too, but they’re real.

9·3 years agoMost of the legitimate “block sunlight” proposals involve cloud seeding or spreading long-lasting particulates high in the upper atmosphere. The goal of these projects is to reflect 1-2% of sunlight, which would significantly cool the climate, but plants would hardly notice. In fact, organisms like reef systems would greatly appreciate it, as they’re dying off at an extraordinary rate.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are there any dyslexic unfriendly fonts?
2·3 years agoConsidering how easy it is to set up a screen reader or to set an overriding font on most browsers, this seems like an exercise in futility. That said, something like mssystem ought to do it – standardized, block-style typeface, with little to differentiate the individual letters.

Another fun fact about them is that if you were to take all their blood vessels out and line them up end-to-end, the otter would die.

Ah, we finally got to the point of “anyone who disagrees with me is a troll.” Took longer than I thought. This thread is becoming a great way to populate my blocklist.

We made it this way because you’re stupid. Also, if you don’t like it, you’re stupid.
No wonder it turned out to be a pile of dogshit.
