Isn’t McDonald’s where they caught the alleged killer of the United HealthCare CEO too? What is it about McDonald’s that makes it hit after a murder? 🤣

I guess I don’t love dogs as much as I thought I did.

Games@lemmy.world•Happy 25th Birthday to the Nintendo GameCube!English
2·4 days agoThe GameBoy player was so clutch! I remember getting the player as a kid and having no idea how to hook it up to the console haha. My dad and I refused to read the instructions and finally figured it out together. Once we got it hooked up, I spent weeks playing the Legacy of Goku from my GBA on the TV, and it ended up being the very first video game that I ever beat.

Games@lemmy.world•Happy 25th Birthday to the Nintendo GameCube!English
2·4 days agoWe got ours a little while after it came out for Christmas, I think this was in 2002, and it is a core memory.
My grandmother gave my siblings and I a gift. We opened it and it was a cool GameCube game, but we had to break it to her that we only had the GameBoy and it wouldn’t work with our consoles. We went through explaining what the differences were in the different gaming consoles, and she hit us with the “I’m an old person, I didn’t know there were different consoles” bit. My dad was laughing in the background, and I thought he was laughing at her for being old and not knowing about video games. Then a few gifts later, my dad handed us this heavier box and imagine the surprise of an 8, 7, and 4 year old when it turned out to be the GameCube. My siblings, dad, and I played the shit out of so many games together.
I have vivid memories of spending hours with my little brother and sister on the floor of our living room, taking turns on Animal Crossing. We played together almost every weekend to pull all the weeds that grew in our town, since we rarely played during the school week. It was so cool when we discovered Mr. Resetti by accident. Little things like that in GameCube games made it such a cool console for kids.
Probably the giant river that goes all the way to a non freshwater sea?

2·7 days agoI found out my dog has cancer earlier this year., but fortunately she isn’t in any pain and she’s her same, obnoxious self. She’s turning 9 this week and everyone thinks she’s still a puppy. I’m in the middle of moving and she’s just hanging out and laying in all the open spaces she couldn’t before in my old apartment.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•too old people should not be able to voteEnglish
1·11 days agoI think they should be able to vote. I don’t, however, believe that they should be able to run for office. The US President is a Dementia patient and shits his pants while sleeping through meetings. There needs to be standards for who can control the nuclear arsenal. If you can’t serve in the military, you sure as hell shouldn’t be able to control it.

Michigan@midwest.social•Camping in Mackinaw City, want to day trip to pictured rocks. Best place to go? Waterfall on the way?English
2·15 days agoI grew up in Michigan and spend a majority of my summers camping in the UP. Marquette is a neat town if you want a city nearby for lunch or dinner. I’d recommend doing one of the glass bottom shipwreck tours, I believe there are a few different ones. I did one that took us out to see the shipwrecks, and also went by the pictured rocks, so I think it was likely out of Munising. If you stop in at any touristy area, there will be tons of pamphlets for local things to do, which are great for people in your situation.

1·15 days agoMichigan. They play Western Michigan, so I sure as hell hope they win… But there’s always another possibility of an Appalachian State, so I never take anything for granted. I think there’s a bowl game coming, but probably not one that matters.

Privacy@lemmy.world•Android auto now blocked if you use a VPN?English
4·17 days agoWhen I’m in an unfamiliar area, Android Auto is super useful. Even in areas I’m familiar with, having some sort of navigation is useful because one way streets and streets that don’t allow turns exist. A paper map is definitely more dangerous in traffic than the one that flashes your directions on your instrument cluster.

techsupport@lemmy.world•Music streaming... any tricks to filer out AI slop? Or a good service that outright bans it?English
4·17 days agoI use Qobuz and don’t have to deal with AI slop. They don’t really have many algorithms that give you like 6 daily playlists like Spotify, but I prefer that. It feels more intentional. I also really like that they have human curated playlists, even though I don’t always like every song on them. In a world that is always pushing algorithms at you, its nice to listen to songs I don’t love to expand my music tastes a little. I’ve listened to a lot of music I otherwise wouldn’t have because of their human curated playlists. You can even buy music from their website, which is pretty nifty.

I feel like that defeats the purpose of pants though. If it’s cold outside, I want to keep the McNuggets warm.
I’m now picturing what it might be like if we all walked around in pants where the only parts exposed were the front and our butt hole.
